Re: Why would you remove the Powered by phpBB text?

There are many other ways bots can find your forum, other than querying for "Powered by phpBB". As for removing the copyright, go ahead, but you forfeit support here, and potentially on other support sites as well. Furthermore, phpBB2 support is dropped 1 January, 2009, not in October. That is good...

I don't know how to modify the code. Isn't there already a MOD that does that? :? I think I saw it somewhere...

Re: Is it save to update from 2.0.22 to 2.0.23?

I was thinking that some files have not been modified and that files could just be replaced with the new phpBB 2.0.23 files. And the ones with changes, I have to manually change codes.

Re: Why would you remove the Powered by phpBB text?

@ Ultimos Homo Statans: Does that text harms your forum? Does removing it makes it better running your board? Does removing it and putting there something you like (ie: I did it myself and I'm a great programmer/coder, powered by myself, copyright by Ultimos Homo Statans in 1970 to 2008, or the lik...

Re: phpBB2 vs phpBB3, my point of view...

About that email stuff... I am using Keep Unread Flags MOD, don't have problems with keeping unread flags... It's not about keeping unread flags, it is about continuing to get update emails. When you are not logged in when you read the topic you were notified about, the forum will not know that you...

Re: File ./templates/xmen/index_body.tpl is empt

Yes, it seems that the file was having 0KB. Probably the connection was lost when overwriting the file.
Now it is okay. :)

Thanks!

Re: Why would you remove the Powered by phpBB text?

It's easy for you to say, since you're using the supported version. ;) I would be curious if tomorrow phpBB.com didn't exist anymore, if you'ld keep your text. :D And also, you are true about the respect they deserve, but also, I think the people who use it deserve respect, because if noone used it,...

Re: Is it save to update from 2.0.22 to 2.0.23?

No thanks, I'll try updating to phpBB 2.0.23 and there I'll remain. ;)

I think I should be able to find out wich files have never been modified by looking to the last modified date. :) Probably they'll have old dates, and those files I could just replace, not manually change codes.

Re: Why would you remove the Powered by phpBB text?

I guess I showed my respect by keeping it for two years and 4 months. ;) That's enough, if no support, then no text. :ugeek:

Re: Is it save to update from 2.0.22 to 2.0.23?

I know that, but I was wondering if there are some incompatibilities. For example, the User Color Everywhere MOD is not compatible with Advanced Rank Management MOD. Or Visual Confirmation on New Posters with Quick Reply MOD. I've seen some incompatibilities, and I was wondering if I do the code cha...

Re: File ./templates/xmen/index_body.tpl is empt

I don't use it, but other people use it. I have 4 templates and this is not the default one. I use the default one.
I get that error when I try going on the index page, I only see Profile page.

Re: Why would you remove the Powered by phpBB text?

What is the point of keeping powered by phpBB text in phpBB2 boards? The support for us will end in a few days. :) 80% of the phpBB forums on the internet are phpBB2. I think all this people have to take out that text because the support is over for some time, just not official... But who ask help f...
