Re: hammered by newly registered members

Hi, I also had my board closed to registration after being attacked by spambots. Reading through this thread, I changed my Spambot countermeasures settings, although I was using Q&A, to just having one question, which was: Sky is to birds, as _ _ _ _ _ is to Ducks? as suggested in this thread. T...

Re: Changing the way pages are indexed.

Thanks,

Have made the edits in the KB article and the 'View Topic' / 'View Forum' have now been removed from the URLs' in the browser tabs.

This is the code:

Code: Select all

page_header($forum_data['forum_name'], true, $forum_id);
Where do I cange the order of the Topic Title and the Site Name?

Changing the way pages are indexed.

Hi all, How do I change the way in which a page is indexed on the browser tabs? At the moment, if I view the 'Welcome To phpBB3' post, the page is indexed on the browser tab as: Riverside Poultry - View Topic - Welcome To phpBB3 What I would like it to index as, is: Welcome To phpBB3 - Forum Name Re...

Re: Minor Glitches - Which pages should I be looking at?

Thanks. Just changed the CHMOD on the Cache folder to 777 and up popped my site!

Should the CHMOD be 777, 775?

Corrected the typo on the 'View My Posts' mod, working perfectly

Regards,

Re: Minor Glitches - Which pages should I be looking at?

Thanks for that. I edited the file and uploaded. Went to check if it had worked, now getting this: General Error Could not get style data I sent a mail earlier in the day to my host informing them that there was still an issue with my permissions as I couldn't delete some files and folders etc. I ju...

Re: Minor Glitches - Which pages should I be looking at?

Hi all, Latest update: Rather than check the edits, I just did them all again on the files you suggested, and in the order they were installed. Not being able to view my UCP > Board preferences I edited includes/ucp/ucp-prefs.php for the topic preview mod - the Board Preferences now working. I used ...

Re: Will GoDaddy hosting support phpbb forums?

Hi, I totally agree. I was with GoDaddy for 2 years and their hosting and support is pants. Have just switched to another hosting company and their support fantastic. They respond to your tickets within the hour and they even helped me get my BB up and running. As I can't post their name in here, I'...

Re: pdating from 3.0.8 to 3.0.9 - Auto-updater problems

Thanks for all the help, so far! I mailed GoDaddy and they mailed back telling me to try a few things with the php.ini file, they said I could increase the time it takes before a timeout in there. register_globals = off allow_url_fopen = on expose_php = Off max_input_time = 120 variables_order = &qu...

Re: pdating from 3.0.8 to 3.0.9 - Auto-updater problems

Thanks for the prompt replies. I understand how you can't really recommend a host but I'd appreciate it if anyone who has used or is using a host that is more suited to running a phpBB, could perhaps drop me a PM ;) I'm really not that clued up on what I should be looking for in a new host. Regards

Re: pdating from 3.0.8 to 3.0.9 - Auto-updater problems

Thanks again. I have replied to the support ticket I raised with GoDaddy, asking if it's possible to increase the time allowed before a timeout. If I don't get a favourable response, then I will probably take up your suggestion and use this opportunity to move hosts and build my board from the groun...

Re: pdating from 3.0.8 to 3.0.9 - Auto-updater problems

What do you mean by: convince Godaddy (doubtful) to extend your time and do the update offline I'm basically starting from scratch with this board. There are no members/posts so that side of it isn't important. If possible, I'd prefer to try and update the php to 3.0.9 without the loss of my mods.
