Re: Retake the Streets!

Oh ... my ... Yup, the legislators in the UK are criminally insane. And I mean every denotation and connotation of that phrase. Why on earth are you not allowed to protect yourself? "Here, kill me!" May the deaths and suffering of British citizens be on the heads of UK legislators. Oh come on, it's...

Re: phpBB's "Hosting Providers"

For instance, I can't help but wonder if there really are "a hell of a lot of good hosts that would be willing to sponsor phpBB." It sounds right at first hearing, but I wonder if they can profitably market their services here. I just don't know. To be honest with you, on second thoughts I'm not su...

Re: phpBB's "Hosting Providers"

Although it does seem like phpBB is endorsing these hosting companies, I find it a great "resource." I just got new hosting about a week ago and it was with a company I found through here. 600 GB of space an 6 TB of bandwidt. One of the best deals I've ever found. If it wasn't for phpBB, I might be...

The $5,000 per project would sure help 'inspire' a lot of potential coders in the community. Believe it or not... this isn't quite the "silver bullet" one might expect. I'll just randomly pluck Mozilla as an example and Gervase Markham's post "6 months on": I had previously read the blog post in qu...

This is something that I had been meaning to bring up as well, Google are accepting applications for mentoring organisations now: http://code.google.com/soc/mentorfaq.html Any word as to whether phpBB are considering this, maybe as a compliment or in addition to the phpBB coding projects? The $5,000...

I just wanted to add my thanks here as well. You don't need me to tell you that we simply wouldn't be here using this forum if it wasn't for you. And do remember that although there are a growing number of 'new' ignorant uninformed community members who do nothing to help the project, those of us wh...

We are using 1and1 for our hosting now and plan to move the site over there sometime today or tomorrow. 1and1 can also move your domain for you. I am sure those arround here, that know more than I, can give you some other hosting options as well. Just a note to add that we don't allow host discussi...

I seriously wonder about some of your posts lately Jon, you just don't make a whole lot of sense. To those moron fuel protestors who are whinging like a child that has wet themself, should perhaps actually do something to rectify the situation. Namely diversify the risk and insure against such thing...

I miss 60Cents to 70Cents per litre in Canada :( Its as high as 1.20 per litre right now. In the UK (where the protests in this article are taking place) - petrol is currently over £1 per litre in many places, that's $2.16 per litre canadian, or for the americans, $6.92 US per gallon. As for the pr...

I'm not sure what the fuss is about, this isn't a virgin birth, they are trying to make stem cells (and it's a rather complicated way of doing so, the advantage being slightly fewer 'moral' issues than using fertilised embryos). except that I guess it means lesbians can potentially procreate someday...
