PHPBB and compatibility with latest software?

OK... there are a number of new(er) releases out and I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on compatibility with them. Apache 2.2.2 was recently released in full production and is recommended now over 2.0.58. Has anyone upgraded to 2.2.2? Are there any issues with getting PHPBB to run or any 'g...

HOLY COW!

OK... I clearly have my work (homework that is) cut out for me! I understand some of the code snippets but others I have no clue what it's doing. There is syntax I have not used and am not familiar with. I assume that I don't really need to edit the code examples you provided below? I will look into...

Thanks again!

I appreciate the code bit on login verification. This I understand and it seems easy enough to implement. That said, I am curious on how to allow user registration so that I can use this bit of code AND how to accomodate specific user permissions that presumably are in the DB with the users login in...

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, I am not that good. I have tried looking at the code and I can't make much of it. I am still fairly new to PHP and developing in general. I think everyone will understand the reference to 'spaghettii' and that is what I have been writing. I am getting better a...

Using PHPBB user auth and registration in my own website

I have been a PHPBB user for quite a while and have recently been designing my own php based website. The PHPBB user authentication and registration system is very smooth and has proven it's reliability time and time again. My goal would be to do the following: 1. Give my website visitors the abilit...

Up and running

My migration was interesting. Going from PHPBB 2.0.6 on an old windows box running older versions of PHP and MySQL to the new box with a new domain, and the latest versions of PHP and MySQL. Then, of course, upgrading to the latest version of PHPBB on top of all that migrating. It was a treat but wi...

Working on getting to 2.0.18

My goal is to upgrade to 2.0.18 but I wanted to get the old board moved over and working before upgrading to the latest version. I have over 300 registered users and thousands of posts I want to still keep around. So, I thought it would be easier to get the existing version working then upgrade. Of ...

Yeah.. already on

Yup... they were already set to on. Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it and will continue to wait to see if anyone else has additional thoughts. It's really odd because I am not getting any errors reported to the PHP error log. It is just as if the links for Login and Register go to the bermuda...

Unable to authenticate after migrating forum to new server

Hello. I have recently migrated a 2.0.6 board to a new windows server that is running MySQL 5.0.16 and PHP 5.1.1. Everything initially seemed to have migrated properly until I tried to login. Thus prompting me to ask for help here. Whenever I click on the link to login, it goes to the login page but...

Got the changes but now have authentication issues

OK.. I got the phpbb_config file edited by changing the cookies_domain info and the server_name file so that they use the .NET addy. Making these edits seems to keep everything successfully pointed to the .NET addy however, when trying to login, well, it doesn't seem to pass the username and pwd pro...

How to make the change?

OK... I am unfamiliar with phpmyadmin but have followed your directions to the point where I have exported the phpbb_config table and see the servername line you reference. My question is how to edit that line and submit that change? I also noticed there are other lines in that export that point to ...

Questions about migrating to a new server and DOMAIN name

Happy holidays everyone. My situation is a bit unique I think. I have full access to "Server A" which runs my PHPBB 2.0.6 board on domain name www.foo.COM. I have moved all the pertinent web files to "Server B" along with the entire DB and want to run the board under www.foo.NET. Everything went fin...
