Re: PHP Create New User W/Activation Help

I got this sorted now, can mark this as resolved - I made it send an activation email which, when followed, sent the user to a custom activation page where they could activate the account.

If anyone else is curious - let me know and I'll explain how I did it. ;)

Re: PHP Create New User W/Activation Help

I tried that and it just didnt work the way I wanted it to... im finding myself doing this a lot for the pages... if anything it's helping me learn how PHPBB works by reinventing it myself in my own way.

Re: PHP Create New User W/Activation Help

The current registration page doesn't cater for everything I need it to do - therefore I'd rather make my own and have it do the core functions of what I need it to do and then I can add my own stuff to it.

I'll have a quick read of that now.

Hello there, I'm trying to create a custom registration page in PHP, I have the form in place complete with CAPTCHA etc... my problem is that I want it to act in such a way that the forum does in terms of creating the new user as inactive, sending out an activation e-mail and then having the user en...

Re: Using the Delete_Topics Function

UPDATE:
You can mark this as done now I figured it out.

All I had to do was the following:

Code: Select all

include_once($phpbb_root_path.'includes/functions_admin.'.$phpEx);
delete_topics('topic_id', $topic_id);
It was the first parameter that had me stuck.

Re: Using the Delete_Topics Function

Im using 3.0.9 but plan to upgrade very soon before we go live. <?php define('IN_PHPBB',true); $phpbb_root_path='/home/xbox/public_html/forum/'; $phpEx = substr(strrchr(__FILE__,'.'),1); include_once($phpbb_root_path.'common.'.$phpEx); include_once($phpbb_root_path.'includes/functions_posting.'.$php...

Re: Using the Delete_Topics Function

Basically, I have written my own pages outside of the forum in PHP - these pages then utilize the data from the forum database. I want to be able to delete a topic from outside of the forum using code. I know that if you include some of the function PHP pages that you can use the functions within th...

Using the Delete_Topics Function

Hello everyone, I've been having some trouble getting my head around how to use the Delete_Topics function (under the functions_admin.php file). Here's the syntax for it: http://area51.phpbb.com/docs/code/31x/acp/package-functions.html#delete_topics%28%29 Basically I want to be able to remove topics...

Re: Adding New Boards Programmatically

Right okay that's what I thought... I think I will stick to the alternative idea in that case. But just out of interest is it possible to add new boards via PHP... I am currently devising an SQL statement based on the current database entries for existing boards - but I am just changing the relevant...

Adding New Boards Programmatically

Hello there, I have a couple of questions to ask after looking everywhere to find an answer to no avail. Basically I am running a site about Xbox 360 and I wish to have a seperate board for each game that comes out and for every game that is already out... but as you can imagine that would be like i...

Re: [HELP] Could not get style data

You should not replace the files in /cache/, they are built automatically by the software. Make sure your cache folder is writeable/modifyable, so the files can be written. Okay so it seems that the fix was only temporary as the problem has come back, I have changed the file attributes of the folde...

Re: [HELP] Could not get style data

I have cleared the cache albeit those two files and now I just get the following error: ./cache/ is NOT writable. EDIT: Okay so now I just re-uploaded the files I deleted and all of a sudden the site is working again AND I can login as well... Thankyou ever so much for your solution, I'd have never ...

[HELP] Could not get style data

Site: http://www.xboxresource.com/forum/index.php Hi, I recently swapped my website from a shared hosting environment to a Virtual Dedicated Server with another company - I have the same domain name still with my old host but I configured the DNS to point to the VDS. After transferring the database ...

Re: Help with topics_track / forums_track

if($topicnew==true) { //Mark topic as read $newmarkdate = mktime(date('H'), date('i'), date('s'), date('m'), date('d'), date('Y')); Apart from all that: this is the worst you can do - this code is not guaranteed to be atomic. Imagine the day wraps from 31 to 1, while the hour was already passed as ...

Re: Help with topics_track / forums_track

Hi there, thanks for the code, I am yet to try it out but you might be happy to know I solved the issue of whether or not a post is read/unread... using the following idea: Variables and Usage: $loggedin - True or False value to determine whether or not a user is logged in to the forum. $topic_detai...
