Re: Unknown error, forum broken

Thanks for the heads up on FileZilla, I had that setting configured a long long time ago but I guess either I uninstalled/reinstalled it or maybe one of the updates changed it. No idea, but it's fixed now - thanks. I also made the changes for guest permissions in both the global and also the forum p...

Re: Unknown error, forum broken

If your attachments were in a folder called "uploaded_attachments" before then you will need to copy that folder over to the same location on the new board. Our instructions relate to a board is setup by default because we can't know what changes you have made. Clearly you couldn't know, I understa...

Re: Unknown error, forum broken

Is it possible that I broke my uploaded attachments? I checked my "files" folder as you mentioned before making changes and there was nothing there, but there was an "uploaded_attachments" folder which, when checked, had files in it and when looking in the ACP I apparently did this when I set the bo...

Re: Unknown error, forum broken

Thank you both so much for the help so far. I believe I've fixed the original problem, have a fresh install that I've needed for a long time, and now I just need to update the styles. Both of you gave me the tools I believe I need to get through that task, I believe I'm going to try and compare the ...

Re: Unknown error, forum broken

Thanks for the reminders on the other files, I would have forgotten. I don't have any files in the "files" folder, but I do have a folder named "uploaded_attachments". Did I do that or is this an old remnant of an older version? As for the styles, I really don't know what to do because I modi...

Re: Unknown error, forum broken

One more thing, in my original post I forgot to include in my request template that I also have the "Advertisement Management" plugin loaded. I loaded this so long ago that it was before Automod, so I forgot about it and forgot to mention it. These are the plugins I have: Auto Backup Prime Links ReI...

Re: Unknown error, forum broken

So that's the problem right there. Your common.php files comes from a really old version of phpBB and includes/startup.php is not actually loaded at all. You can just download a fresh version of phpBB 3.0.12 and replace your common.php and includes/startup.php with fresh updated copies. You can go ...

Re: Unknown error, forum broken

I update by downloading the files from the site here, unpack them and upload them as is always recommended here. I have 2 "custom" styles uploaded that are pro and sub "clones" so to speak. These rarely get updated other than applying updates as I find them and when mods require changes to the style...

Unknown error, forum broken

A few hours ago I checked my forum real quick, put up a few posts, and when I submitted the last post I got this error message: Strict Standards: Non-static method utf_normalizer::nfc() should not be called statically in /home3/bare172/public_html/forums/includes/utf/utf_tools.php on line 1781 Stric...

Re: Forum running slow

Thank you very much for the link, I knew how to check my own internet connection and I knew how to check if my server was down, but I never knew how to check the speed for loading and such. As far as the 88 requests in 2.4 seconds, is that good? Also, I only have 2 ads on the site, I never wanted to...

Re: Forum running slow

Yeah, it seems to be intermittent again... When I was compiling the first post it was timing out BADLY. Is this something site-wise, server-wise, or possibly just me? You also mentioned flash player and plugins, what is using that? I'm not aware of anything flash on my site, and my mods (plugins) ar...

Forum running slow

My forum seems to be running slowly, sometimes timing out. I'm not well-versed in PHP but I can follow directions just fine and have edited enough of it that it doesn't scare me. I suppose it's possible that this is theme based, I edited existing themes to tweak them with my images and a few other m...

Re: image/thumbnail question

Not trying to sound ignorant, but will that work for both hotlinked and uploaded (attached) images?

Also, I'm assuming that since this plugin exists, the behavior I'm describing in my forum is standard and there isn't a built-in setting I can tweak?

Thank you SO much for the help.
