Spammers getting past all my defenses - what now?

Ok, I'm running phpBB 2.0.23 and most of the anti-spam measures posted here (like visual verification, etc) simply aren't working. Some of them are simply too time consuming to work out with only forum support. I only get about 2 free hours a week (if I'm lucky) and cannot devote time to visiting te...

Re: Cannot access my site at all

OK, thanks. I ran the file, I can now access the site. However, it only allows me to use subsilver as a template. How do I get it back to the other themes I used to have? They don't even show up on the drop down list.

Re: Cannot access my site at all

Also, I just got notification that a spam account was created on my site just now. how is that possible if even I cannot access it? Does that mean anything relevant to my problem?

Re: Cannot access my site at all

I can't access the admin panel at all. I looked at the link you posted, but the very first step confused me:

"Create a reset_template.php file with the following:"

How do I create a reset_template.php file? I have no clue whatsoever how to do that or even which program I use to do that.

Cannot access my site at all

Ok, I tried installing a new theme (a xmas one), tried setting it as the default, and now I cannot access my site at all, not even the admin area. All I get when go to the page is this: phpBB : Critical Error Could not open xmaxtheme template config file DEBUG MODE Line : 503 File : functions.php He...

Re: Can't change text color

I got the theme here,

http://www.phpbb-design.com/templates/?letter=C

but if I click on the author's name, it just takes me to another phpBB support forum.

Can't change text color

I'm confused. I have phpbb 2.0.23 and I installed the Charcoal2 theme. Everything is fine, but I cannot change the text color from light gray to black. I went into the Styles Admin section, clicked Management, chose Edit for Charcoal2, then on the 4th field down under Theme Element, I changed the Te...

Re: Preventing SPAM - Bots and Humans [*Read the First Post!*]

Yikes! That's too techy for me. I think I'm going to be stuck doing it the prehistoric way and just using the wildcard filter. Thanks anyway, but trying to figure all those steps out will have me up all night and my blood pressure 30 points higher.

Re: Preventing SPAM - Bots and Humans [*Read the First Post!*]

Thanks! That registration stopper sounds like just what I need. The question things to stop the spam bots is pointless, because I always only get live spammers it seems. Now, the last two questions are... Does it work with all versions of 2.0? I see 2.0.19 and 2.0.22 listed, but I have 2.0.23 runnin...

Re: Preventing SPAM - Bots and Humans [*Read the First Post!*]

Ok, my other post got locked, so I'll repost it here, where the moderator wants it. :) __________________________ I just cannot believe this. I've tried everything to prevent spam sign-ups. The visual identification where you have to enter a series of numbers is utterly useless. Setting it so that t...

Re: Problem renaming forum

BINGO! I changed the file path like you said, then the folder in my directory, and it works! I can sign in and access the admin panel even after clearing the cache and cookies and closing the browser, then signing in fresh. Thanks so much! :) Now if we can only get my web hosting company to hire you...

Re: Problem renaming forum

When I unzipped the cookie MOD, I got a file folder and an MPEG filed called auto_cookies. Yup, I put it in the wrong place, not in the install folder. So which way is better? The MOD or manually doing it? I'm just worried that I'll get locked out of my own admin panel and not be able to access the ...

Re: Problem renaming forum

I tried running the auto mod and got a 404 error. If I go under the configuration page of the admin panel, there is a field that says script path that has /Monsterfans/. Do I change that to /mosnterfans/ (ie lower case)? There is also a cookie path field, but currently it as nothing in there other t...
