How to get rid of Unwanted autoSignup

My class forum is constantly, multiple times a day, getting adds for new users from a Phentermine or similar spammer, invariably any email they enter is false and bounces back to me, as moderator, as well. I'm hopeing the new image verification will stop this. I've eliminated all the bad names excep...

Error after 2.0.10 to .15 upgrade

So after I upgraded from .10 to .15 I ran the update file, everything went fine, I then deleted the install and contrib as required and logged into the admin panel and see this error near the bottom of the page: Version Information Unable to open connection to phpBB Server, reported error is: Connec...

Is there a easy way to hide the memberlist?

We have the need to hide the memberlist. Is there a easy way to do this? We don't want anyone to be able to view it by clicking the memberlist link at the top of the page except for the admin themselves. Any tips would be apreciated.

TIA

Thanks, the direct link worked and wouldn't you know it... following that when going to a single post the row of images including the >< button shows there. Go figure. The documentation could be a little better on installing it (from a newbie point of view) and how it works is completely ignored in ...

OK I just tried installing this on .10 and I'm not even getting a broken red X, nothing, zip, can't even tell the mod is there. I followed the instructions but I'm not a programmer, not even Java or Perl, maybe some syntax is off? Help?

Combining 2 separate posts into one Topic

I see that a Admin can delete posts and split them but there is no way to combine two topics into one short of redoing it. At that point the Author loses credit for it. I read the docs maybe I'm missing something. So my questions is: How do I take two related posts in the same forum but each was pos...

It is a risk although not enormous. How are you starting MySQL? Have you checked in terminal that its running and that you have created a username and password that works? Grab a copy of PhpMyAdmin and make sure it can connect to the MySQL database. MySQL starts via the Init script built into Red H...

Maybe its me, but aren't there some security issues related to that? That's why I wasn't posting a link direct to it. If the risks are minimal I can understand how its no big deal.

You need to create a text file with: <? phpinfo(); ?> and upload it to your server. Then view it in your web browser. It will give you information about the server. :D OK, I created it, called it index.php and I got back that it shows this: --with-mysql=shared,/usr Is there anything else in there s...

I am trying a new installation of phpBB-2.0.8a. I select the proper MY SQL as my database type and enter the correct connection info. When I click 'Start Install' I get the following error: "The PHP configuration on your server doesn't support the database type that you chose" We are hosting this ou...

So what was the status of your issue? Did you fix it and if so how? We're running Red Hat Linux with MySQL and getting the same message. A search of this board and this was the only place I saw anyone saying they were getting this error so I'm interested in what it took for you to get it going. :?: ...
