Re: Star rating system

Yeah, anyway. Look what I found: 5-Star Topic RateKit by RateKit Script Author: andfinally / Bootstrap Star Rating jQuery Author: Kartik Visweswaran / Extension Author: kaspir https://forums.thetopfew.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=748 Personally I'm looking for (IMDb) star rate not threads but just in t...

Re: Are there any PHPbb SEO tools to improve seo?

I like the point you brought to the table about the -f parameter & canonical. phpBB has to be aware, why is that not something they would fix on their own? I mean, the reasoning behind it? And perhaps you could suggest your edits to area51.phpbb mate! Along with the f parameter when it was introduc...

Re: Are there any PHPbb SEO tools to improve seo?

Right on, sounds like you have a great plan and well thought out. I'm happy with my current index with phpBB dynamic-urls. Generally page one or two currently, and I have little content imo. Of course no matter the site platform, the search terms are the key factor. I also have several WP sites runn...

Re: Are there any PHPbb SEO tools to improve seo?

Very Sorry for double post, but wanna shorten conversation with thecoalman. @thecoalman, thanks for some very valuable info. So with your current rewrites, you have no issue with dupes simply because, as you stated, one instead uses the topic_id parameter to end the friendly url. Sweet stuff. And li...

I sent you a PM. I haven't tried this EXT out until I get a response so I know how to move forward.
You should read the README file with the package and follow what it says.

Now if you would like support for it, I would suggest posting 'kindly' where you downloaded it. ;)

Re: Are there any PHPbb SEO tools to improve seo?

The other issues most links on the forum use the f parameter yet the canonical URL does not have it. So glad you said this! Well, I have not yet seen a fresh phpBB package display any meta descriptions yet for 'topic urls', so not sure about what we are letting phpBB do there, if anything?! Inconsi...

Re: Are there any PHPbb SEO tools to improve seo?

Some intelligent remarks made by thecoalman imo! :praise: For all those still thinking about converting urls to friendly, here's my peace... just don't for your own benefit. Your energy can be spent better elsewhere. Let the search engines handle the dynamic urls like they already know how and prefe...

Re: Are there any PHPbb SEO tools to improve seo?

Here's a pro version that I would use. https://www.inveostore.com/phpbb-seo-extension-40 Nice one, but I inspected the demo, and do not see any META tags in the header of that phpBB site demo they got with it running. Just looks like it only creates friendly URLs, and that's just a whole other conv...

Re: Are there any PHPbb SEO tools to improve seo?

And you think that after 20 years of PHPBB it is a mistake that the don't use the meta description? No. Nothing is wrong with the standard phpBB package. What I'm simply saying here is a meta description tag is displayed to humans when the url is shown on search results, therefor enticing human cli...

There is a difference between RECOGNIZE them and use them to improve your ranking.
Oh they use them. :) phpBB doesn't.

Re: Are there any PHPbb SEO tools to improve seo?

Search engines DO RECOGNIZE meta DESCRIPTIONS: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/79812?hl=en I think you meant to say, they don't use keywords. As you can discover with a quick Ctrl+f on that page, there is no "keyword". :D Oh and titles can be altered in your templates' overall_header.html

Re: where to edit forum width

Thank you Kaspir that is what I had been looking for. It was very easy and worked as said. I do have a question though, is there a way to do this and only have it effect the forum index page? I don't have all the answers, but from my experience, almost everything is possible! :) To do that, I would...

Re: Is there ever a reason to change EVENT vars in templates?

What type of behavior can you alter? Say for example that you had two styles installed (prosilver and BBoots) and you wanted to add some css and the css was different for the two styles then you could add it to each style independent of the other if the events were named differently Interesting, I ...

Re: Is there ever a reason to change EVENT vars in templates?

The only reason that I can think of to change an event's name in a template would be if you wanted different behaviour at that point in different styles, but having said that if you used the different style names in an extension then you should be able to achieve the result What type of behavior ca...
