Yes I know. They still show up on the post a reply/thread screen though even if you can't use them. I even changed the path so they don't show but now just get lots of broken image path boxes.

Smiles and postcount removal

Hi all,
I have launched a new board which is to be used for a questions and answers and contact point akin to a web based photo gallery.

For this the smiles and post count are not necessory and I wondered if there was a way to remove them period.

Now there's a idea. An IP bank. I wonder if it would be practical to have a database of offending IP addresses that we could share and block.
the only problem I can see is that I have known some real members to be affected by IP banning as they are somehow sharing IP's.

Any thoughts on this?

Good thread this one! I have spent some time browsing through the spam topics as I am have a lot of bother with the problem. Mine are not registering just making guest posts unfortunatly I need a guest forum for the site. It occured to me that one way maybe to stop the spam is just to disable postin...

Hi, I have been browsing the mods to find how to add a small banner across the width of the top of the forum index page (and maybe other pages as well). Ive seen this plenty of times before on other sites. It don't have to be fancy, just a narrow strip I can place news flashes, links, ad's or whatev...

OK. fair enough. That is interesting. What I should say is that is not the link I added or knowingly altered. I did use an editor to work in - if that had some bizzare effect on the code I can not say. I will code it manually in text and see.
