Re: Possible database problem?

Thanks guys. Hosts had indeed upgraded to 7.3 without telling me! I changed to 7.1 and it allowed me to log in. So now I have another problem... I started the upgrade to 3.2.7 using the automated update package but got the dreaded timeout problem. After reading through various 'solutions' on here, n...

Possible database problem?

Hi All My forum has suddenly developed a problem. I'm getting several errors above the forum and if I try to log in I just get a white screen with more errors. My first thought was a database error, but it seems ok when running checks and repairs in Phpmyadmin. Nothing has been changed or edited for...

Re: Incorrect username

OK, so not fixed... He has an iPhone, iPad and Laptop. I managed to get him in ok on the iPhone, which he uses mostly by simply changing his user name and changing it back again. However, he then couldn't log in on his Laptop or iPad. Following the same proceedure allowed him to log in on Laptop and...

Re: Incorrect username

Ok, sorted.

If I typed his name in ACP it said he didn’t exist, but he shows in member lists and you could search for him ok. I changed his name slightly and then changed it back and now all is ok again?!? A database glitch I assume?

Cheers

Did you try copy/pasting the user name and email from the ACP into the forgot username link under a different browser?

Erm, there isn’t a forgotten user name link, is there?!?

Thanks

Re: Incorrect username

Did you administrate the user to see what his actual credentials are? Yep, all looks fine. I can't see any reason for it. Maybe just a glitch, but database doesn't show any errors so stumped! As I say, he's a moderator and is online every day. Suddenly he can't log in with invalid username. He's ch...

Incorrect username

Hi all One of my moderators has suddenly not been able to log in. He's getting the message 'You have specified an incorrect username'. He's had this username for years and nothing has changed. I've checked all logs, member lists etc and hes still shown as an active member - I've tried forcing a reac...

Re: Hacking attempt?

Yes unfortunately the IPs weren't grouped so I ended up manually banning them one by one. Seemed to ban ten and another ten would pop up. I think I eventually banned over a hundred IPs but it seems to have worked.

Good luck!

Re: Hacking attempt?

Ok, a bit more information... Basically I'm getting 500 errors because I am exceeding the limitations of my package. My page views have cone up from well under 10,000 a week to over 100,000. My hosts can see lots of visitors from China who are just sitting on the forum front page. They think they ar...

Re: Hacking attempt?

Yes, read only. I was more thinking the Chinese visitors were doing some form of Ddos attack, hence the 500 error, which could imply too much memory usage or to many processes running. I don't claim to know much if anything about it, but it just seemed a bit of a coincidence. Here is my .htaccess fi...

Hacking attempt?

Hi all I've suddenly started getting intermittent 500 errors. Nothing has changed on my forum recently. I notice on average I have about 10 guests, all from China. Could this be a hacking attempt? I have spoken to my hosts (1and1) and they say the error logs (which I don't have access to) don't indi...

Re: BBCode URL help

You've already got an 'either or' with the standard [url] tag, either use [url] or use [url=]. Yes, I know, but as I said I'd like to do a similar custom one.... Standard format BBCodes cannot have conditional parameters. If a token is added then data must be entered for the token. However, you cou...
