Re: Topic and thread difference?

Let's all just stay on-topic here, please. ;)

Any further discussion of extensions has enough dedicated places here on phpBB.com.

Re: Error message trying to access my forum

Now i'm just questioning why doesn't it say in any update guide to change the mysql to mysqli? Glad to hear you've got your problems resolved. In fact, the MySQL extension for PHP had been deprecated since PHP5.5, so hosts should have long moved on to only supporting mysqli. Since PHP 7.0 it's been...

Re: Error message trying to access my forum

Hi, welcome to phpBB! :)

This is most likely because of one simple line in your config.php file.
Could you see if changing the mysql to mysqli in that file changes anything?

In your config.php file, could you change the mysql into mysqli and see if that changes anything? :)

Re: Topic and thread difference?

Ostinction in reaffirming an outdated concept. Everyone knows what they are talking about in one way or another. Because anyone who comes here and says "thread" in context of a phpBB-specific discussion is still completely understood, and the use of "thread" doesn't create any ambiguity because of ...

Re: Lest we forget

Let me first say that I like the idea. :) Maybe you could implement David's idea a few minutes prior to the minutes of silence, so that the board is already disabled by then and you can have your own minutes of silence. And potentially for the entire day change the board logo to an image of a poppy....

Re: Why this topic is locked?

The extension author himself declared the extension as abandoned and locked the topic himself.
So I assume he doesn't want to continue development, unfortunately.

Re: Too many connections [1040]

The connections this error is talking about are purely the calls to the database. The database here isn't involved for download the videos, it just loads the contents of the posts regardless of whether is has videos on it. So that's definitely not the issue here. I'd just contact my host and see wha...

It's a fair question to ask, don't worry. But yes, it's indeed a host issue. ;)

Re: Pless help solve this error Table 'phpbb.phpbbh4_config' doesn't exist [1146] on my forum

Your sentence in the first post reads: So I backup my database and I bought a vps hosting from my hosting company.. Did you do this? Back-up the database? :) And even if you didn't, I would say there's a good chance your host will still have a back-up (perhaps slightly older) of your database for yo...

Re: Pless help solve this error Table 'phpbb.phpbbh4_config' doesn't exist [1146] on my forum

The files and directories are the structure that phpBB runs on (and stores images like attachments or uploaded avatars), but the database has all the data from your board (such as forums, posts, users, you name it). So it's important to also restore the database back-up. Do you still have a back-up ...

Re: Language Packs

You can, you could edit the language files (usually common.php when it's a board-wide variable but this could differ) and add a line: 'EXAMPLE' => 'Example Text', However, I must warn you that there have been many many new strings added since 3.1, so if you were to do this only when you find the unt...

Re: Language Packs

Theoretically, you could. But as you guessed that wouldn't be a good way to do things. A lot of the board would be well translated, but there would also be a lot of strings left untranslated which to those users would look like this: {{ U_EXAMPLE }} instead of the text it should be.

Re: Posts Missing After Upgrade to 3.2

Do you still have back-ups of the files and database from your 3.0 version of the board? It could be that the database update didn't fully complete, so you could try to restore your back-ups and run the full update again. Additionally, are all posts/users since June missing or does it appear only so...
