Re: New post count on index

... Besides the existing problems: Has anybody thought about not counting posts from forums where the user has no access to? :roll: To do it right, you would need half the code from search.php to check if the user has the proper rights to read the posts. That's exactly what searching for New Posts ...

Re: View/search post since x mod

1. edit search.php and hack the newposts facility 2. find: case 'newposts' 3. below it you'll find 2 SQL statements (one for topics, one for posts) ... WHERE p.post_time > ' . $user->data['user_lastvisit'] . " ... WHERE t.topic_last_post_time > ' . $user->data['user_lastvisit'] . ' 4. user_lastvisit...

Re: change values written to db for custom fields droplist

Is there a technical reason it has to be a number, and not text? Or was just the programmer's choice?

I suppose someone could modify the part that receives the entry the droplist choices to accept a form like this that would over-ride the numeric value:

AL=Alabama
AK=Alaska
AZ=Arizona

Re: Meta Tag Plus

Sloppy instructions in install.xml INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value, is_dynamic) VALUES (' meta_indetifier ', 'http://www.Your Site.TLD', 0); 'META_IDENTIFIER' => $config[' meta_indetifier '], ' meta_indetifier ' => array('lang' => 'META_IDENTIFIER', 'validate' => 'string', 'type'...

how to modify grouping of custom profile fields

In the UCP, there are several groups of data in the Profile area: Edit profile Edit signature Edit avatar Edit account settings I have added several custom fields, and they show up in the "Edit profile" block (along with ICQ, AOL, MSN, etc.). Can somone tell me how to: (a) create a new group e.g. "E...

change values written to db for custom fields droplist

If I create a custom field with a list of States, e.g. Alabama, Alaska, Arizona..., the values that are written to the database are 1,2,3...50. The normal procedure is to use state codes, e.g. AL, AK, AZ. Is it possible to do that? In other words, I want to change this: <option value=" 3 ">Arizona</...

Re: can't get hook_xxx.php to load

Doh! Ok, I enabled "allow PHP in templates" and it works. Thanks. I have now figured out all of what I wanted to do: (a) load my own .js file (edited overall_header.html) (b) load my own .css file (edited overall_header.html) (c) load my own *.php code module (edited functions.php) (d) call my own P...

Re: can't get hook_xxx.php to load

Thanks for the feedback. The hook documentation (/docs/hook_system.html) doesn't tell me that I shouldn't or can't do it. It simply explains how to do it. I'd still like to know why it didn't work for me, regardless of whether it's legal for me to do so. Obviously something happened, since the page ...

can't get hook_xxx.php to load

I have a lot of experience in PHP, Javascript and CSS. This is the first time I've looked at phpBB at the code level, and I need to modify a 3.0.1 installation to do 3 things: 1. include my own xxx.php file and call a function in the page 2. load my own xxx.js file and call a javascript function in ...
