Sorry to disagree but in my opinion it is a bug. I kept opening the form, entering what I wanted to search for and pressing enter only for nothing to happen. So I gave up thinking, oh well that's not working yet, it was only later on that I tried it again and pressed the submit button. Generally if ...

Hi

Since part of that line comes from a variable anyway why not do something like:

Code: Select all

echo '2001 - ' . date(Y);
That way you'll never have to update it again :)

Hi Does phpBB have the ability to dynamically close the forum if the server load is getting too heavy? I regularly visit a very popular site run with VB and due to it's popularity it sometimes gets soo many visitors that the server dies, but with VB they can set some setting that automatically displ...

Login Failed Message Page

Hi When you enter a wrong username or password you get the Login Failed page and the following message: Login Failed You have specified an incorrect or inactive username or an invalid password And that's it, it just sits there. It would be good to do one of the following: Automatically return to the...

It MUST be happening for everyone. If you goto http://phpbb.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=1 and look in the title bar of your browser you will see phpBB v2.0 :: View Forum - - Microsoft ....... Right inbetween the two hypens is where the name of the forum should be, ie. the title should be ...

I think this should be considered an optional feature for sometime in the future, I've had many people spam my boards with link ads and no so nice links to some pretty nasty stuff =) Is this not just a different use o...

<title>phpBB v2.0 :: View Forum - </title>

Hi So you're saying that a user types in http://www.microsoft.com/ and the administrator has decided to ban that and so it appear in the post as http://www.********.com/ but when someone clicks on it it takes them to wherever the administrator has decided (eg. http://www.linux.com/) ? Would this not...

Hi I don't think you can and to be honest I don't really see the point. The actual url will still show up in the status bar when the users hover the *ed out link. Also you'd probably get people posting all kinds of weird links and getting people to click on them and have them ending up anywhere. In ...

Hi I've just remembered where I had read about this before, there's a good article at http://www.phpbuilder.com/columns/tim19990117.php3 that provides the solution I was trying to explain earlier. Here's another article I've dug up, http://www.webmasterbase.com/article/485 This provides three possib...

I think that bot's won't follow pages with variables attached in the request string (so they wouldn't follow the links from http://phpbb.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/index.php for example (or they would follow them but without any variables attached)), however if you were to use the fix above then they wo...

OK I've not had a chance to confirm this yet but if it is the case then there is a work around but it's probably not suitable for phpBB as it involves editing the server configuration so that php scripts are renamed to just viewtopic (ie no .php extension). Then any variables that need to be sent to...
