I logged into admin area, went to user Admin. clicked on Disallow Names. In the first window that says: Add a disallowed username I simply placed a * in the field and added that as a disallowed name. I would like to stop people from registering

My forum is closed at the moment. I have a sticky up with some info and links on it. So I want to keep this available to view. Meaning I don't want to disable the board. I would just like to disallow new people from registering. Is there a way to do that or a mod I can install that would allow me to...

tried new copy of phpbb and same errors

I found the problem!

We had a funky .htaccess file in there messin with things!

removed it, and works fine now!

When I uploaded the new files today, I had used the config.php file that had been written to yesterday.

That was the problem. I made sure that I used clean new files, and it is working now.
