We believe that we have the issue with downloading and IE resolved. It was related to mod_deflate, which is the module we use to compress output and save a little bandwidth.

Server outage today

The good news is that the server is back up and all is well ;-) The bad news is that Hurricane Electric (the data center whre phpbb.com is located) had a power failure this afternoon bringing the phpbb.com box down. As soon as the power was restored the database was checked/verified and the site was...

Secondly, A bit of background would prob. help. phpbb.com is running on a dedicated Xeon server. That server is colocated at a data center. Colocation means that I own the s...

TTLHost and XO Communications worked hard to filter out the attack and we appear to be back on-line now. I'll...

System maintenace 25-Jan-2003

If the current world wide DoS attack settles down a bit, I'll be doing some brief system maintenance tonight between 10:00 - 11:00 Central time (GMT-6). Any outage should be very brief.

phpbb.com under attack

Over the past couple of days phpbb.com has come under several DoS (denial of service) attacks. To limit the impact of these attempts, we have enabled certain counter-measures at the server level. We believe that this will stabalize things, but it may cause some legatimate traffic to be dropped. If y...
