Re: approval post problem

You should use the permission mask/tracing to find out which permission setting results in the unwanted total result.

Re: [3.2][3.3][RC] Auto db Backup

Would there be any pros or cons to having the extension disable the board prior to it performing the backup? Or even giving the admin the option to disable the board as part of the the backup. That way you would ensure no user is trying to do anything. There's no need for an extension. In the ACP t...

Re: Cannot update from 3.2.8 to 3.3.0

As janus mentioned: having a working copy of your board on your PC should put your mind at rest concerning future updates/grades.
First of all, it implies that you have functional backup, plus you can test any update/grade before going live with it.

Bertie escorts an intruder off his territory

What a magnificent animal!!
And the boy stayed calm - walking slowly and not looking directly at the animal. Running away could have gotten him killed

Re: Cannot update from 3.2.8 to 3.3.0

Thank you for your reply. So why is the automatic update unfunctional? Since I am not able to access the administration of the phpBB forum, I am not able to follow the steps 4.-6. Is there any way to fix this please? The safest way to do this would be to restore your 3.2.8 (which should be possible...

Re: Cannot update from 3.2.8 to 3.3.0

If updating from phpBB 3.1.x or 3.2.x then please see our guide for the recommended updating method. The recommended method to upgrade from 3.2. is Upgrading from 3.2 to 3.3 Since you've started the autoupdate: you should check /store and if there is an install_config.php, any migrationsxxx and/or ...

Re: Old topics up

So you thought that's how it worked, and you took it for granted somehow? I've never used (nor allowed) bumping but I've seen bumps somewhere op phpBB.com WITH a message along the lines of :bump: so that's how I thought it worked: The disclaimer I posted was precisely to make it clear that I didn't...

What about the pro shared hosting plan on Bluehost for example? https://www.bluehost.com/hosting/shared "Pro servers allow for a 300,000 file count and are deployed with fewer users per server than standard shared servers, allowing for greater compute resource availability per user." For more "spec...

Re: PhpBB vs Vbulletin vs xenforo

Is that true? Is phpbb years behind Xenforo? If so, when will phpbb catch up? And why is it behind? Surely the developers at phpbb have all the latest knowledge in server technology, coding, HTML and software design right? That post was made on Apr 30, 2014 and is specifically about phpBB3.1

Re: Old topics up

Can someone explain me how to change the date to the old one, is it even possible? IIRC a bump adds a post mentioning it's a bump. It's that bump which changes the last post date of the topic. Deleting the bump post should reset the topic last post date to the date of the post just before the bump....

Admins and mods can still access the board but they see a warning message at the top.
Ow, (got mixed up apparently) probably confused with the install directory being present
