Re: I made a mistake when I went 3.25>3.27

FTP or SFTP doesn't make a difference. The point is that when using autoupdate the files on your server are modified, NOT replaced and this (in many cases) causes problems. The autoupdate should only be used if you have modified the files yourself and even then I would choose to apply the modificati...

Re: Open links in new tab

Doesn't the wheel have a button function also? With the mice I own you can press to wheel and this is the same as a old-fashioned middle-mouse-button-click That's what I use. A couple of years ago I once tried a 5 button + wheelbutton mouse but my coordination level is permanently stuck at 2 button...

Re: Move PhpBB to new server, manually?

... Can I do a fresh install on a different server and move (export/import) the database? Would I need to install 3.2.2 or could I use the latest version? https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3.2/kb/article/transferring-your-board-to-a-new-host-or-domain/ You could always test it beforehand ol loc...

I don't have mouses with a middle button: there's always the wheel. Didn't mouses with a middle button extinct when the wheel was invented?

Re: help with updating from 3.2.1 to 3.2.7

I am a bit confused about updating the version -- was hoping to set auto-update but concerned I may mess it up. ... Try to forget "auto-update". Use the method described in the links posted by stevemaury; and for your 3.2 board, just to play safe, disable your extensions (if present) before updatin...

Re: MySQL Update from 5.6 to 5.7

Generally it' not recommended to continue using the original database after upgrading MySQL. The recommedation is to export the databse, upgrade MySQL and then import the backup. Having said this: I've always just upgraded without needing to export first and then import and never encountered a probl...

Re: Migrate data from custom forum

I'm looking to migrate an existing custom-made forum to phpBB 3.2.7. I need to migrate the users, messages and threads. I was thinking about writing a script that reads a row from an existing forum DB table and writes the data to the phpBB table with the fields in their proper format and location. ...

... Anyone cares to leave your number over the bottom of their site to ask why Finnish and Estonians are hated? https://www.ionos.com/ The "hate" part is your interpretation. Re: 3.1.5 to 3.2.X Backup and Update

6MB only? You shouldn't really have any problems with upgrading. (in fact it shouldn't take more than a minute or 2) You mentioned you don't know which styles you have in use. That probably means you're only using prosilver. Just in case, check the database: in your 3.1.x remove all other styles (if...

Re: 3.1.5 to 3.2.X Backup and Update

Still that leaves with me two questions: Should I update the forums now or hold off until the primary webmaster can analyze the suppressed php error? What settings should I use for backing up the database? You should always test your backups (and try to update) on localhost before risking anything ...

??? In the context of this discussion, that remark falls in the category logical fallacy. Your argument for not not implementing this permission was that you don't need it yourself so this was a perfectly appropriate remark to make. That is a false representation of what I wrote (and as such is als...
