Re: Updating from 3.0.x Command Line Gives Error

Online upgrading from 3.0.x on a large board (especially with modifications) is a lot easier on localhost.
Once the upgrade is succesful, it's just a matter of uploading the upgraded database.

Re: [3.2][RC] Privacy Policy

It's not the first time you forum has been offline because you did not test your changes on a copy of your live forum. Not true Ok, perhaps offline was not the correct wording: change that to online but not functional. The point was that whatever is changed on your forum (or.. generalised: a forum)...

Re: Confused about update from version 3.1.x

See https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=556&t=2453611 Fix: Open phpbb/db/migration/data/v32x/fix_user_styles.php & find: OK, thanks. Since I don't need exactly v3.2.2, which version of 3.2.x family do you think is more stable? Regards, Gianni Both are equally stable, the only problem be...

Re: Make the pbpBB update process faster and easier

Look, I'm using the "Automatic Update Package" because I have a few things I've modified in the code, and the Update process is smart enough to detect these changes, then merge them with the new code! So, again, it would be technically feasible (and maybe not that hard) to improve the Update proces...

Re: How do I get the data in formaer database into the new site?

as I understand it, he still has the old database on the server. if so, all he needs to do is edit the config.php file for the new phpbb3 board he installed so that it points to the old database. then, he needs to run the update for that database to bring it up to 3.2.2 robert Hello robert, Please ...

Re: GDPR Official Extension

This is serious? Others update their software ... for example, Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc. for this new "rule", and the European users of phpBB should we request an extension, be it official or not? This should be part of the phpBB core, to adapt to the laws or regulations of its users,...

Re: Make the pbpBB update process faster and easier

(after all, the board knows which version you are running, and the last version available right?) No it doesn't, it just blindly accepts some info in a few lines in a field or file. It's the admin who knows (should know) exactly which version and whether there have been file or database changes, an...

Re: Deleting accounts by the administrator - info to the user

I never delete accounts, but instead either ban or deactivate them. Reason is: multiple accounts belonging to one person are not allowed, and preserving their names and e-mail addresses is one of many steps to recognize re-registration(attempt)s. Also this has the advantage of being able to reactiv...

Re: How to install multiple boards under same domain ?

Please can you explain step by step how you have done it ? Let's accept you have domainx and want 2 forums, one in domainx/site1, the other in domainx/site2 1. Make a database 2. install phpBB in site1 with 2 styles, style1 default overriding user_style 3. in the database copy config_table to <pref...

Re: users manual wanted, on database backup file.

Is this an idea?
MY idea is: you've installed phpBB3.2.2 which means you've got a working forum. Make a category, add a forum, make 2 or 3 groups and assign them different roles. Play around with all settiings and read https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3.2/ug/

Re: How to install multiple boards under same domain ?

I tried what I suggested .. and basically ... it works (more or less) There are some problems though: e.g. anything linked from board1, is relative to board1 and clicking on it in board 2 will redirect to board1. I'm quite confident that this 'problem' (and other problems which I haven't discovered ...

Re: How to install multiple boards under same domain ?

As stevemaury said, It should be possible using 1 database. I'm not even sure if all tables have to be repeated with a different prefix. includes/constants.php has a line @define('CONFIG_TABLE', $table_prefix . 'config'); I suspect that if you have 2 forums, you could copy the config_table and renam...
