Re: Error on Line 1617

You still need to set cookie_secure to true, and redirect to https in .htaccess.
+ clean up the board and delete the agrorussian user and his posts (and probably also other spam accounts)

Re: Batch Cleanup of Topics/Replies beyond standard pruning

Now.... I have over a million posts in my forum and I'm looking to clean things up. I have some topics that have hundreds of pages. It would be nice to keep the topic in place (with it's original posts), but then do a batch delete of all replies. Is that a possibility? It's possible but requires so...

Re: Blocking 'guests' from the 'Who is online' information at the bottom of the board.

My question then was, how can I stop 'guests' appearing in the 'who is online' section. Surely you had a look at the ACP when installing your board? ACP > tab GENERAL > Server Configuration > Load Settings > Enable online guest listings in viewonline: That however does exactly what is says: it's ei...

Re: What permission allows users to see the LAST ACTIVE column on the Members page and the ACP > USERS AND GROUPS > Mana

You just want to remove the data from the view The original post is asking how to show the Last Activity column on the memberlist for those specific users. That column will be visible to them if the view-hidden permission is set for them. hmmm... You're right: I completely misinterpreted the...

Re: Hi! Haven't used phpBB in years, need advice on old DB found

Yea I realized that obviously I'm going to be getting errors, because XAMPP is using php8. lol I downloaded php 5.6, but don't really understand how to install it into XAMPP. I tried following some directions I found when I googled it, but didn't really understand it at all. Any tips on how to get ...

Re: What permission allows users to see the LAST ACTIVE column on the Members page and the ACP > USERS AND GROUPS > Mana

You just want to remove the data from the view (including having the list not sorted by Last activity datetime) You need to find the templates the Last_Active columns (with data) is displayed. Going from memory that would be memberlist_body.html. The column header would be L_LAST_ACTIVE and the data...

Re: Multiple.Users Unable to see Public Forum

Assuming your certificate is valid, your cookie_secure setting has to be set to true (currently it's set to false). (and as Mick pointed out, you should add a redirect to https in .htaccess).

Re: Hi! Haven't used phpBB in years, need advice on old DB found

Ok, I installed XAMPP and tried to import a copy of the sql.gz database into phpMyAdmin, but it instantly says it's probably too large of a file. It's only about 80MB. Does that seem right? Can I change something so it will work? It referred me to some documentation but I really didn't understand i...

It is on topic. It's far easier to stop them from registering in the first place with good Q&A. with all due respect, this is unhelpful. I don't think your team are taking onboard the severity of this recent wave of bots ability to crack even the hardest of Q&A. With all due respect, on my ...

so you're saying from the beginning there is something already there we can copy permissions from?
Yes, in the form of permission roles.
And it's simple to create a new permission role. (e.g. starting with an existing role, edit, and save as a new role).

Re: What is good 'default' way to set up first forums?

Learning by experimenting and testing on a newly created forum is the best way to understand the permission system.

Have a look at the Knowledge Base: article phpBB3 Permissions

The mx_ tables are not phpBB tables I don't see an ext_table Expand/CollapseStructurephpbb3_gallery_roles phpbb3_gallery_users + Expand/CollapseStructurephpbb3_mods >>> All of this implies that it's a 3.0.x database (gallery is a mod but the data can be used by the extension (with phpBB3.3): see the...
