Re: rotate images / attachments

(forgive this cross post - the other was in a 'general' area where it probably won't get seen) As far as I can tell, the issue of thumbnail images being rotated has not been "fixed" yet. I realize that some phpbb members/developers do not see this as a phpbb issue that needs fixin', but again I add ...

Re: Image orientation in plupload, using EXIF

As far as I can tell, the issue of thumbnail images being rotated has not been "fixed" yet. I realize that some phpbb members/developers do not see this as a phpbb issue that needs fixin', but again I add my name to the chorus of phpbb board admins that don't care which piece (phpbb code, plupload c...

php error pointing to s9e extension?

After updating to 3.2.1, the following code occasionally shows up at the top of the page: [phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/vendor/s9e/text-formatter/src/Configurator.php on line 2497: DOMElement::getAttribute(): Couldn't fetch DOMElement [phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/vendor/s9e/...

Re: Header customization in ACP

I would agree with the thumbs down for options to control functionality that very few people might use - those types of features are a perfect fit as extensions. But this is the header and navigation! How much more basic can a web page element get? I have created thousands of page layouts for deskto...

Re: Header customization in ACP

Those are all assuming your style has those features. It is a bad idea to hardcode such style features in the ACP when you do not even know for sure that your style will have any of those features. I can't think of a style that doesn't have those features (a header with at least a background color,...

Header customization in ACP

<r>The header on a website should be custom to that website. The header in the phpbb forum has always been difficult to customize, and any changes made to code are problems in the next phpbb update.<br/> <br/> Though I am extremely grateful to the developers of phpbb for the years I have used the fo...

Re: UCP - Board Display options/Display posts from last . . . .

phpBB 3.2.1 file: search.php line 374 $sort_days = $request->variable('st', 7); ;) Change that 7 to be the desired number of days. or use the event core.search_modify_param_after located in search.php to create an extension. Ah, well done, 3Di! (Without tracing through the code) I have a suspicion ...

Re: UCP - Board Display options/Display posts from last . . . .

Even though the feature is by design, there must be code that can be changed to select a different option from the drop-down list. Those of us with "sleepy" forums, like the OP (parametric), know that 7 days is not a good default setting for our forums. I'm going to hunt through code and see what ne...

Re: Request: Intelligent Attached Image Uploader

I edited the hard-coded "quality" value in plupload.php, changed it from 100% to 84% (16% JPEG compression.) This solved my issue as a board admin that wants to allow uploaded/ attached images, but doesn't want ridiculously large files saved to our server. The same 3MB image that results in a 1.5MB ...

To bring this to the attention of the developers you should create a bug report (I know the name sounds wrong but it puts in the tracker), linking back to this topic.
Thanks, David. I created an issue (15340) and it's in the tracker now.

Re: Request: Intelligent Attached Image Uploader

Is there any way that I can check myself, what version of Plupload is currently being used in phpbb 3.1.x and 3.2.x? Is it compiled into phpbb code, or is it a separate file and I could just copy the latest stable version of plupload to my forum's site? If not, then where in the forum could I ask th...

Re: Request: Intelligent Attached Image Uploader

According to PLUpload support, they have already switched to a higher-quality image reduction algorithm: Some effort was put into Pluploads underlying core (mOxie) to improve image downsizing. In fact Plupload 2.3.1 (current stable version) does bilinear downsizing with gradient descent, which shoul...
