Re: [Split] Bogus Registrations & implications

I knew the answer so it’s probably not a fair test from me. :)

Re: PHP Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /includes/functions.php

Probably /includes/functions.php

See Knowledge Base - phpBB3 and UTF-8 without BOM

Note: I’ve not seen this error for years, I assumed PHP had sorted the BOM issue out but I was obviously wrong.

Assuming you havn’t changed anything in phpBB that could cause this maybe AWS has? Have you asked them? Searching I found this which doesn’t mean a whole lot to me but it might to you?

Re: updating php from 7.4.33 to 8.2.12

I’ve been using PHP 8.3.6 with phpBB 3.3.10 for some time without issue. But reference this you should be good with 8.2.

Re: How can I delete the cache correctly?

After being here for so long (6 years) I would have thought you’d know this but purging the cache in the ACP is the normal way and deleting everything from the /cache folder except for index.html and .htaccess using FTP is the other, which is basically what purging the cache via the ACP does. You sh...

You seem to be asking the right questions but in the wrong place. If you search “xampp install different php version” you’ll get your answer.

Re: Bytespider Attack

Reported it to my hosting company but they didn't know much more that I did. I added entries to robots.txt and also used the robots/spiders entries in phpbb as well as blocking some of the common IP ranges that it was showing. But even then I was often seeing 6 or 7 anonymous entries in "Who's...
