Re: phpbb_db_backup

I have the same issue here. Not with a phpbb export but with a similar phpmyadmin dump (not compressed). I've tried bigdump to import backup file, but getting the error and am now trying the command line approach which is currently running. I have a 2 M + record database on one linux server, use php...

Re: Posting by E-mail

I'm coming from the perspective of hating listservers, so it is impressive that I'm becoming more interested in listservers each day. It is not because I like the structure - I don't. The hardest thing I've tried to do on the internet is build communities. Listservers provide more pro-active 2 way c...

Re: Posting by E-mail

Yes it would be so handy to just send an email to a special email address to have it added to the forum. Please keep me updated with your ideas.

Re: Posting by E-mail

You didn't say why you wanted to be able to post by email, but I've been wondering the same thing. In my case, I would like to integrate the discussion forum with a listserver and have a post here in the mod requests section: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=586078 My opinion on l...

phpBB - listserver integration

Discussion forums (message boards) and list servers have some things in common. I've often wondered why one software can't do both, but maybe not. So working with what we have - if we have a phpBB forum and a Yahoo list server isn't there some way we could automatically post from the list server to ...

Re: Using PhpBB as an email listserver

I've had the very same question on why I need to run somewhat duplicate applications. We run phpBB for the message board and Yahoo list server for proactive emails. Sure seems like there would be a great benefit to be able to combine the functions. The part I'm not sure about is how do we know the e...

I just wanted to say thank you again for the Registration Stopper mod. Without this mod, I would have been forced to stop several of my forums. Now I turn the registration off and have a note on the registration page to call me by telephone and I let them in. I realize that this approach would not w...

good luck with the validation!

They would be insane not to validate.
Thank you for all your help. I've shut down my registration and people must call me by telephone to register. Perhaps with your mod, I can open up the registration again.

Good luck!

One that seems to be missing from the list, perhaps because it may not have been designed for spam and it is not available yet is the Approval Groups Mod: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=2654234 I have big hopes that this mod will help with spam. Basically, a post from a user is not avail...

I have put in other mods including the agreed hash, memberlist not listing for 0 posts, newestmember not listed for zero posts, admintool kit to whack zero post. Each mod may help some but spammers seem to find there way in. Yes, it does seem that spam is not an issue for many. I'm not sure if the s...

While phpBB boards and other types of boards get SPAM. SPAM isn't a phpBB subject. If the had a forum for SPAM I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. In my opinion, not only is spam a phpBB subject, at the current time it is the most important subject. Without better Spam self de...

Definitely a great mod. As I recall I had some issues getting the passwords to work. Can't remember if I had to hash them or not. I uploaded the toolkit.php eventually got it to run, deleted members with zero posts a hundred at a time and eventually deleted the script when done. If you are still hav...

There are many different angles to fighting spam and spam is the single biggest issue that I face with my boards. After a while the longer threads become difficult to discuss specific concepts. I think we need a separate forum section for spam and hope that someday that it is not needed anymore.
