Re: prosilver Special Edition

It doesn't contain the compatibility fix for Internet Explorer 8. This is just a line that gets inserted into the standard headers to force IE8 to emulate IE7, so it shouldn't be too difficult to add it.

Moving to another domain.

My hosting provider is retiring the domain under which my board resided, and I have now been moved to another one.

However many users have embedded URLs to the old board in their posts. Is there an easy way to go through all posts and amend the URL accordingly?

Re: No popup when new pm

I've done some tests with my site. Popups work fine with the SubSilver2 style, but are broken with Prosilver. I've tested with both Firefox and Safari 3 Beta.

Re: No popup when new pm

One of my users has also reported the same problem just this very minute.

Re: Congrats on RC5 Release!

Actually I've since discovered that the changes are to prevent Cross Site Request Forgery attempts.

Re: Congrats on RC5 Release!

It's to prevent some bots, as you need to quote the form_token from the original form to be able to submit a post. The time field allows a minimum time difference between receiving a form and responding. Again this can be used to stop bots, but it could also have other uses.

Signatures and custom BBCodes.

I've added a new BBCode to my small site which allows a certain type of flash animation to be embedded in a page. Unfortunately it seems that users can also use this BBCode in their signatures, which leads to excessive scrolling as well as other display problems. The current signature set-up doesn't...

Re: Congrats on RC5 Release!

I see that this site is now including the new hidden fields 'creation_time' and 'form_token' which appeared in CVS just a few days ago. I presume this is to test the new functionality prior to giving RC6 a general release.

Re: phpBB 3 Spam! Are you getting it too?

The trouble with CAPTCHA is that since all the phpbb forums use the same one, spammers are going to put a fair bit of effort into writing a program that can decode them. It is quite possible to write a program to decode and read CAPTCHA images on a case by case basis. I regularly get spammers (I su...

Re: "Page Expired" or "Webpage Expired" problem

I'm getting the same issues on my RC5 board with IE7 and some users. Turning off the jumpbox rectifies it here.

Re: phpbb3 & spambots

excellent!! just what i wanted to hear!! :D At present I'm deleting about 10 fake users a day. Don't want to install any mods as I intend to upgrade as soon as v3 goes gold so this is really good news!! Hopefully there will be an upgrade path from 2.0.18 ? keep up the good work guys and bring on th...

Preparing to go live.

I'm getting ready to migrate my site from phpBB2 to phpBB3. I ran a test conversion yesterday to see how long it would take, and it seemed to go without any problems. So I'm just about ready to go live once phpBB3 goes gold. My only issue now is redirecting from the old site URL to the new one. My c...

Re: What's running this query?

No wonder I couldn't find it! I didn't consider it could be called from within a post. I should, of course, have grepped the source, but I've not really had the time. So why should this query only run slowly when users are posting during certain hours? Unfortunately I'm on a server with shared-hosti...

Re: What's running this query?

I've looked at the code concerned, and as yet I've not determined the circumstances under which this particular query. I can't get it to happen when I run a search. It makes me think that some user or bot is repeatedly running complex queries against my site. The current search_history table contain...

What's running this query?

Running phpBB 2.0.22 on mySQL 4.1.11 with no significant mods. I'm getting the occasional database slowdown; every time this happens this query is being executed: SELECT word_id FROM phpbb_search_wordmatch GROUP BY word_id HAVING COUNT( word_id ) >1  It's always stuck in a 'sending data' mode, often...
