Re: Largest forum you've managed?

18k members (about 1500 are "active"), 900k posts, 4.3 years old. Currently we have 3 admins + 1 "tech admin" who only assists me with technical stuff, the codebase, etc. Additionally, we have about 8 moderators, but we could run with less. Our participation is at an all-time low...

Re: Why would someone want to spam me by reporting threads?

Why they do this I don't know. I guess they think it's worth a try to get the admin/mod to buy into their spam(I know it doesn't make sense, but if ONE person per 1000 or even per million does then they make money). Could these instances be poorly designed "bots" just following whatever l...

Re: Why would the Medical Industry want to cure a diseases?

However, coming here and telling us that only you know the truth will simply get you nowhere. Techincally, he is selling access to his version of the truth on his website (which will also get you nowhere ;) ). http://healingunderground.com/index.php Why would anyone ask how to achieve what I claim ...

Re: Why woould the Medical Industry want to cure a diseases?

A better question: if your hypothesis is true, then how do you explain why so many diseases in the era of modern medicine have already been cured/prevented out of existence?

Re: How did you spend the rapture?

We held out annual "big ole southern garden party." Everyone got dressed up in sundresses, big hats, seersuckers, and there were even a few gentlemen in bow ties. The whole neighborhood came out, along with some out-of-town guests. We ate filets, drank mint juleps, and danced to a live ban...

Re: phpbb Ads

You seem to be missing the point. phpBB.com (and the people at this website) have nothing to do with your problem, your forum, or your hosting. The people at this website just make the forum software. Lots of other companies, organizations, and people use the software (like the people who host your ...

It would also be wise to check the ToS for your internet provider. Many IPs here in the US (don't know about where you are) don't allow their customers to use their service to host websites. We've been with two major providers (Time Warner Cable and Verizon), and they both forbade using your home co...

Re: BANLIST - SPAMMERS

I just ban the entire site, *@gmail.com , I guess people will have to use there ISP account instead of hidding behind GMAIL. Technically, domain-based emails are easier for professional spammers to get now than are many 3rd party emails. If your strategy to fight spam is to ban anything that is *po...

Gas costs $9.60 a gallon in the U.K.? I thought we had it bad at $3.60/gallon... That's about what we are paying here (I think I paid $3.69 today, but I didn't have time to shop around). When the "recession" started and we had the first gas price spike here, I lowered my prices a ...
