Re: [split from] Preventing Spam in phpBB 3.0.6

I might look into creating a mod when I find some time. Keep us informed in that case. Well after enough run-ins with private message spam I finally sat down and coded in a hack (not a mod) that: Checks the last x number of PM posts when a user submits their message, and counts how many of those po...

Re: [split from] Preventing Spam in phpBB 3.0.6

you would think that if this was a wide spread problem, there would be more posts about it or maybe a MOD or something. Since that is not the case, I would have to assume that it is really not that big of a problem for most phpbb users. I still do not see why you can not use the built in phpbb func...

Have you seen this patch yet? I haven't looked into it, but if it works it sounds like what you're looking for.

3.0.6 upgrade tweaked variable scope/session management?

Hi - I just upgraded to 3.0.6 and everything's working well, except all of a sudden I can't access any of the handy phpBB3 vars, (e.g. '$user->data['is_registered']'). Here's my setup, basically: The overall header template file (overall_header.html) has some PHP at the top that includes my site's h...

Re: Email to user upon admin activation?

Going back to the original question, is there a way to make the system send the email notice when we manually activate an account through the ACP (like sending user_welcome.txt that gets sent out with self-registration, for example)? Thanks. 8-)

Yes, it keeps the post rank/normal rank.

Re: phpBB Debug error showed during registration/username change

I had this issue too and I fixed it by hard-coding a regular expression check into the validate_username function of functions_user.php. I replaced mb_ereg_search_init('^' . $username . '$', $regex, $matches); if (!mb_ereg_search()) { return 'INVALID_CHARS'; } with if(preg_match('/[^a-z0-9-_]/i',$us...

Re: Help !! Registration loop prob !!

I am also having this problem, running on a fixed IP. I have "Tie Forms to Guests" disabled, and the IP validation set to A.B. IE worked for me but not for another, and Firefox throws a loop for the agreement page most of the time. Sometimes it would take 2 clicks to go through, other times 10. :cry...

I see, I'll tune it so you can achieve this, then. Thanks for the feedback. :) I'll post the new version with this requested option and some more things within this week. If anybody else that's using this 0.5.0 version it is bound to ask for features please do it asap, I would like to finish this M...

Re: [BETA] Limited Edit Time 0.5.0 (2007-04-21)

The MOD works (it is supposed to ^_^) this way: We have a new auth (auth_lte) for a per forum/group basis that should work (I tested it in localhost and seems to work, that's why I posted it here, for a better testing, thank you) the way phpBB 2 does. You can set a forum where ALL can edit , REG ca...

Spam bot search engine block

I'm about to update the visual confirmation with Freecap on my site, which is getting a decent number (one a day) of spammish users. But one method I'm using that at least makes me feel better is blocking search engine robots on the view profile page. Since the spammers that sign up for my site rare...
