Re: different charsets (latin > utf8) and conversion

Do we not need a comprehensive FAQ and WTD (what To Do) for charset and collation problems within phpBB3, both historic and current?

That would be so 'very' useful for so many who have run into these problems (often inadvertently, without any warning on pre-configuration checks steps) .

Correct character sets & incompatabilities

I wish to check whether our MySQl database and phpbb3 (3.05) tables are correctly configured, re charsets and collations (or at least not a complete mess) Whilst phpbb3 works OK, we have some odd Unicode chars from previous backups/restores (prob wrong connection charsets) and have remove many of th...

Re: Codepage/characters - £ sign problem

Ah thanks, all the same for the tables But i found this ONE difference between our old dB and the new one on our new host collation connection utf8_general_ci (original) utf8_unicode_ci (new) Should it be general and if so, is there any easy way to sort things out £ wise as well as new problem, sear...

Codepage/characters - £ sign problem

After importing to a new phpBB 3.05 forum, we have unfortunately got this character problem again username_clean (lowercase username) was corrupted where apostrophes in name by ʹ - Fixed using a simple Update Lcase(username) statement But... the £ sign problem has resurfaced £ and also some hidd...

Re: SQL Eerror

As reported elsewhere, this problem persists for us despite reverting to MySQL Search (and increasing smallest indexed words to 4 characters)... We don't actually see long term permanently locked queries, but we suffer from query slowdown and buildup, with some being locked (and unlocked rapidly aut...

Does anyone know if the Big Green Apple actually escalated this after taking a look at the early reports?

Re: MySQL 'max_user_connections' exceeded

Here is another forum experiencing the exact same problem .. phpBB2 > phpBB3 and then the MySQL Max_users errors (we have ample max users, i would think 50) There is obviously a problem here that needs more concentrated minds... which is why we moved from phpBB2, the threat that support was being wi...

Re: [BETA] phpBB Garage 2.0

Same here... we quite often don't see anything requiring approval after a PM to that effect, but check that your co-moderators haven't approved it and that all your options are consistent... In the ACP in General I've disabled moderator Make/model Approval... so I shouldn't get any PM's? But what ab...

Re: [BETA] phpBB Garage 2.0

[Edited to abbrevaite- HM] Not wanting to escalate this, but I totally disagree :) The Modifications area of phpBBGarage is not the place to regale the intimate details of extensive and complex engine swaps and upgrades IMHO. Our Technical Advice and reports Forum with embedded images and on-going d...

Re: [BETA] phpBB Garage 2.0

Engine types are the type of thing you set once and then forget. They are not worth the effort of moving to the DB. If you move them to the DB you have ACP,MCP pages. OK thanks, I can see that for 'normal' popular car forums that might seem to be the case.. Our vehicles (VW T3/T25s last built from ...

Re: [BETA] phpBB Garage 2.0

Engine type - how can I alter the options here and create new? We had the same need. That is, more specific engine types for our particular forum... Also, it was very important to see Engine Type displayed in the main View-Vehicle page, as it is not worth users setting it if it isn't a part of the ...
