How to log in a user based on session?

I am using phpbb as my site's authentication system. I am also using a Flash file uploader to pass a file to the server. Of course when Flash posts it doesn't have the same cookies as the user so I am manually passing the session id but it doesn't seem to log in the user. Basically I am doing this: ...

Re: 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 upgrade problem.

I got this too, auto updating from 3.0.2 to 3.0.6. Specifically, I got the language not found error. The board instructions said to get the auto update package, which I did, even though the auto update package is from 5 to 6. I don't know if that made a difference. Running the database update didn't...

Re: Using PHP authentication in application

Oh sweet, I solved it. I was overwriting a class in phpbb, the Template class. Just renamed my own class. Never figured out why it wasn't throwing an error, especially since error reporting was set to E_ALL, but whatever. Maybe my hair will grow back soon!

Re: Using PHP authentication in application

No sir, but those are excellent links that I wish I had a while ago. I just read both articles and they don't offer any insight to solving my problem unfortunately.

Using PHP authentication in application

I'm not sure if this falls within the realms of these support forums, it probably doesn't but after a few hours of plugging with nothign to show except for a slighty mushier brain, it can't hurt to try. My website uses phpbb2 (the latest, .0.22) for the forum. I'm using the logged in session data ac...

This is very true. Your first post is very wrong.

Re: Allowing Flash by default is a bad idea

Well let's give it a test then shall we?

This button should under NO circumstances take you to google.com

And yup, it does! Looks like the allowscriptaccess value isn't doing anything. Maybe it's a doctype issue? Either way, who's up for some phishing? :D

Re: Allowing Flash by default is a bad idea

Flash runs independant of the site it's on. The Flash player controls URL access, not the site. I also know it works because I tried it on this forum and another and got warned for it

Allowing Flash by default is a bad idea

I would even venture to say that it's a terrible idea. If you want phpbb 3 to be as user friendly and secure as possible, make Flash disabled by default for "Standard" access when setting up permissions. Newer users might overlook this option and allow Flash to all users. I honestly found it a big h...

For those of us who don't know which files to edit, could you tell us which files those are? It sounds a little elitist to say "hope you know which files to use!"

Bots don't neccessarily have to read it. One article that I read (I think it was posted here) said that bots will save the verification image and put it on a free porn site, so that anyone wishing to view the content would have to enter the same numbers. The bot then takes that input and puts it bac...

But I don't want login.php to always direct to the same place. I don't want people logging in on the forum and people logging in on the site to both be directed to the same place.
