Thank you very much for your most helpful reply, especially your insight into the bots vs. guest permissions.

Re: Search function in custom pages?

Ok, but if I give the bots access to posts as if they were regular members than anyone using Google search would have access to that information, correct? I probably don't want to do that.

Re: Search function in custom pages?

Sorry, I mean change the permissions so that the Google webcrawler is allowed to access the posts the way a user does rather than as a guest.

Re: Search function in custom pages?

So what's your opinion on trying to mess with their permissions?

Re: Search function in custom pages?

Ok, now I'm getting it. So at the time of search, it will go to that page and the page will be rendered dynamically but if the webcrawler doesn't have access to the forum as a user, only as a guest, and if the forum posts are invisible to anyone but logged in users, the crawler gets nothing useful, ...

Re: Search function in custom pages?

That is what I thought but I'm not very clear on how Google sees the pages. Are these pages that have been cached somewhere? How does Google see these pages? When would Google ever see a forum page? Thanks

Re: Search function in custom pages?

As far as Google search, does that only access pages that have been cached somewhere? I'm not very clear on how it works. It doesn't appear to be able to access the forum database so what purpose would it really serve to replace the regular forum search with Google? I would love any insights into th...

Database size limits

Is there a limit to how large the tables/database can be for phpbb3 (non-mod tables)? I did a search and couldn't find anything in a reasonable amount of time. Thanks

Re: Force executing email queue

Will this process it right away regardless of the time interval passage? Thanks

Force executing email queue

I'm manually entering posts which then get put in the queue. I would like to force the queue to execute rather than wait the required interval. I also noticed that even if the interval passes, the emails don't get sent unless someone actually logs in the forum (or maybe some other activity but I onl...

Re: Attachment physical_filename

FYI, I just did my own tests and found that if I just change the last part in the attachments table and then the file name in the files directory, the program finds the correct file. Of course, I'll have to make sure that that userid doesn't have duplicates or conflicts but I think I can work around...

Re: Attachment physical_filename

I have a file in my phpbb_attachments table, acp.jpg, and when I do a md5('acp.jpg') or md5('acp') I don't come up with the physical_filename after the '_'. So how important is the physical_filename? It would be easy to use the uid & '_' and add the md5() of the real filename but does phpbb use that...

Attachment physical_filename

How is the physical_filename in the phpbb_attachments table derived? I can see that the first set of numbers is the user id followed by the '_' but what determines the rest? Thanks
