Re: server crash imminent due to multiple registrations

Afterthought:

MySQL client version: 4.0.21
used PHP extensions: mysql

MySQL server version: 5.0.77

Could this mean there are more than 1 versions running at the same time?

Re: server crash imminent due to multiple registrations

Please make sure that the redSilver style is for the 3.0.8 version or else we might get errors later on. The style is RedSilver3. I don't know where to look to find the exact version used by our forum. From the styles section of this forum the latest version of RedSilver is: RedSilver3, 2008 based ...

Re: server crash imminent due to multiple registrations

Done.. I do know a bit about CHMOD and using Flash FXP switched the cache folder to 777. (I wonder if that's correct for public use, nevertheless) Next error: "Template path could not be found: styles/RedSilver3/template" Was that not included in the software upgrade? http://img192.imagevenue.com/lo...

Re: server crash imminent due to multiple registrations

Thank you both for your replies. I am glad some of the extra info was useful. My site is hosted on a dedicated server supplied by a host that in the past (last 5 years) had a reasonable support / service desk. Lately (the last 6 months) their service has gone down the drain. Asking for support now I...

Re: server crash imminent due to multiple registrations

of course... (i saved the old cache directory on my PC before replacing remote with the new one...)
There is only one cache directory online and it's empty, as I suppose it should be (well just the two files .htaccess and index.htm, both small text files)

So how to continue from here?

Re: server crash imminent due to multiple registrations

First and most importantly :) : Very Best wishes, good health and prosperity to all at phpBB for 2011 !! Tabitha, the server password issue is now fixed. It took some time and I've had a huge amount of work to do lately. I have opened phpMyAdmin and this is what I found: phpMyAdmin version: 2.11.9.4...

Re: server crash imminent due to multiple registrations

You need to go into phpmyAdmin and repair your phpbb_log table. Make a database backup first, then run: REPAIR TABLE phpbb_log; Thanks again Tabitha ! I would do that (with some help maybe), but there is another even more serious problem to deal with first. A few weeks ago I had an automated messag...

Re: server crash imminent due to multiple registrations

Update... the server did indeed crash is back online now... However.. although I login to the board, I can't login to the ACP. (maybe this should be posted in a seperate thread, but it does seem related to the size of the database) The error given is this: General Error SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ] Incorrec...

Re: server crash imminent due to multiple registrations

captcha update, maybe update to 3.0.7 You should always stay up-to-date. ;) What CAPTCHA were you using? The standard CAPTCHA has been broken by spambots and phpBB 3.0.6 includes the CAPTCHA plugin system, so you could easily go to a Q&A CAPTCHA, reCAPTCHA, or any of the plugins in the Customizatio...

Re: server crash imminent due to multiple registrations

Re: Upgrade from phpBB 2.0.17 -> ??? and debug

I think a duplicate seperate database for the second phpBB2 board is what I have now. The first: http: //www.domain.com/forum/ The second: http: //www.domain.com/forum1/ The URL of the board says nothing about what database it is using, that is controlled by the config.php file in each of those add...

Re: Upgrade from phpBB 2.0.17 -> ??? and debug

If you want to work completely independant of your original board, then you need a duplicate seperate database for the second phpBB2 board (and you will then need a third database for the phpBB3 board). I say this because the update_to_latest script modifies the database. The 2.0.17 board shouldn't...
