Hi charmed, I think it is just one table within the database, but this particular table holds all the main data, and is 1.6 GB . I need to replace a recurring website thoughout the data, with my own website. (It is not merely a function of the script which is inserting the website name, it is actual...

is there not an sql query that could do that ? Do what ? Replace a single word throughout a table ? If there is, hey, that would be even better, because that's really all I need to do ! Maybe Im going the wrong way, or even LONG WAY round, if so, please show me the straightline method . :) I merely...

Splitting Large Databases

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to split a large database file.

I have a table dump of 1.6 GB, which is too large to open in any text editor.

Is it possible to split this database in any way, or even open it up in any kind of editor ?

Regards

Perhaps........

It may have asked you to download only an updated version of a particular file, like config.php for instance, in which case you accept that download and upload only the new file version to your server. In any event, your first run of anything with phpbb should be install.php. Did you install first ?...

Is it a free site....

Is this a free site, and have you checked that you can actually use the PHP bulletin board on tripod/lycos.

I have one of their free sites, and you can't use MYSql database, also I'm sure there is a file size limit for uploading.

Mass e-mail...

First off, is your mail program settings correct, altho PHPBB is configured to use the mail program default settings, which works in 99% of cases I imagine. Next up, your Hosting company, if this is what you are using, might not permit mass mailing with the qmail or sendmail functions. If that is yo...

Elucidate........

You say you installed the Database yourself. I'm curious to know if this is your own server, or whether it is a hosted site. Either way, my real query would be do you have all the correct modules installed for PHP & MySql to work? I'm assuming you have a fair enough knowledge to know what you're doi...

Hmmmmmmmmm.............

Let me get this rite........ You want a bulletin board, but you don't appear to have a web-site! Talk about not having your cake and wanting to eat it! First off, you need to find a FREE webhost (i'm presuming), that will also allow you to run MYSQL databases with php support. There are very few of ...

Hmmmm....

I got this one once also and I was using the syntax 'localhost', then I discovered my host had assigned a mysql database hostname for it which normally follows the syntax >>> mysql.yoursitename.com <<<, if you've already tried 'localhost'

Might work!

Moving host also...

Is your domain name changing? If not, you have nothing to worry about. If your domain name / base URL is changing, then I would move everything, log in, and the change it. You might get "logged off" when you change due to the difference in cookies, but you should be able to log right back in. You h...
