Always nice to take a jaunt back on the phpBB boards, and see on of my styles going to use. Credit would have been nice though! :P

Can you post a link to the script?

Also, its good to implement some sort of debugging. For instance instead of having the {SITE} template var, try just a hardcoded word to make sure the block is working, incase its just the {SITE] var thats empty

Drathburn, it seems we both misread what Mudface was after. I was imagining a blog like front (as he said he did the post pulling himself), so all the post text would be shown, so no dynamicness needed, if you see what I mean :P About your explaination of "potential" posts as you put it, I totally a...

The problem is your trying to parse an array in a string: $host_array = array("$site2", "http://forum.$host", "$site_array"); The last element is an array, and cannot be parsed to a string. You must access the data by referring to the arrays elements, $site_array[0], $site_array[1] etc... This is wh...

Although the above is all correct, from my point of view it is wildly complicating the matter. The tracking above implements a dynamic system for browsing reasons, so that posts read in that session well be unmarked etc.. Whereas, in this case, as you just want the last ten posts to be shown with we...

Its actaully alot simpler than you'd expect, when you're pulling your topic data, if the topic time is after the users last login time, then they haven't read it :D

Check out line 520ish of viewforum.php:

Code: Select all

				if( $topic_rowset[$i]['post_time'] > $userdata['user_lastvisit'] )
				{

To split the comma seperated list into an array, you do indeed use explode. You can check it out on the php manual here . Basically, the first parameter you send is the character/string that will split the string up into array elements. In your case you want to use "," (without quotes). The second p...

Do you know php? The above code won't work, because you're using html not php code. You'll need to use the database to store the rank (no. of images) of each person, and then get that data when the page is shown, and use it to make a loop, showing an image on each pass. Overall it will be pretty com...

For the variables, can you post up some of your code? So we can see where you are :wink:

For the second question, are you referring to form handling? Passing data between pages? If so, you can check out the php manual, or google for a tutorial. Should find some very helpful information :D

I suggest you test the ending characters of $file for "jpg" or "png" or whatever. Then if it is, you can safely say its an image file and continue. Check out this sweet snippet from the phpB code itself :wink: $phpEx = substr(strrchr(__FILE__, '.'), 1); That will give you the extension which you cou...
