Re: First forum you ever joined:

The first forum I joined was a Counterstrike forum under phpBB2 in the late 90s. I was invited by an acquaintance who I met playing the PC game Tiberian Sun online. I became an administrator at that forum, and that started my experience both with staffing at a message board, and using phpBB in parti...

OK, then I suppose I made improper use of the term in this context. What I mean to say is: I opened up the txt file which is not on my hdd but which I accessed through FTP, edited it, then closed the file choosing to save the changes made, and while the FTP program was in the process of saving this ...

Erm, sorry if I expressed the nature of the matter poorly. What I meant was that I was uploading the changes, but the file itself was located in the FTP directory, not on my hdd.

Unfortunately, it's not posts I'm after, it's a copy of the txt file in my FTP directory. I was in the middle of uploading an edit I made in that file when the server disconnected. When I logged back in, there was a cached file and eventually the txt file showed up again, but it was incomplete. Thou...

Quotes lost

I had the misfortune of saving the file where I keep all the quotations I collect at the very instant it decided to start randomly disconnecting and having all sorts of errors. I lost many of the quotes I collected and the cached file only contained most of the file, but there are still several miss...

Random Quote -- just like on Secular Web

Hi, I'm using the following MOD on my forum: http://www.phpbbhacks.com/viewhack.php?id=431 You can view it at work on my forum's index (just click the link in my sig). Now, my question and interest pertains to how I would make the random quote box on my forum index look and function like it does her...

I'm a Yank and I love (American) football. However, I'd prefer if it was named "blitzball" instead and soccer "football". I've been watching some of the World Cup, since it's shown while I'm at my job and, when I have a break, I may catch some parts of it. The game today between ...

Same for me, specifically and ACP. But I'm reading the guide and I'll be practicing using it, so it won't be long until I get used to it.

Oh, and while we are at it. Thanks to the module system it is possible to make the new ACP look exactly like the old system without the need for any code changes. :) Module system? Can I change the look of the ACP right now for the Beta-1 version of Olympus I have set up? Or do I have to wait for t...

i hope you get the drift. all you need to do is the same for users and whatever else you wanna transfer :D best of luck ;) Thanks. I think I get it. When I come across problems (as I'm expecting), I'll try to express what they are as best I can. I'm wondering, do I get to choose the users or do I h...

@ karlsemple: In that case, I was totally thinking it meant something else.

@ pentapenguin: I didn't. I'm greatful for the info. I'm learning a lot about this new phpBB and I'm now more confident in upgrading.

Is the code-name "Olympus Gold" officially recognized? In that case, I suppose that's going to be the FINAL/first official non-pre-beta/beta release of phpBB 3x?
