Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2.7 Release

This is good news. I did not yet upgrade to 3.2.6 and I read about many bugs, so this will save me time!

You should check if your extensions are compatible with strict mode.
Is there a way to check that from my end or just ask the dev??

We are used to work with strict mode enabled since long time ago. ;)

Can I run MySQL 5.7? Strict mode a problem??

So I found out my VPS was on MySQL 5.5 so I had it upgraded to 5.6 and all scripts are running fine. I'd like to update to 5.7 now but the provider is telling me that strict mode may be an issue. What they told me is below. I'm thinking that updating to 5.7 should not be a problem for phpBB 3.2.5 or...

Can phpBB be hosted on Amazon AWS / EC2 / CloudFront?

Amazon has serious computing power and you can buy instances/servers from there. I took an initial look at it but it looks extremely complicated to set things up to host a website. It's not even clear if I can setup a MySQL database. Is it possible to setup phpBB on the Amazon AWS infrastructure? I ...

Re: Known issues in 3.2.4

Can you update the 3.2.4 code package right now so people from now on doing the upgrade aren't affected? I haven't upgraded to 3.2.4 yet, I usually wait a few days after release in case there are known "bugs".

Re: Tapatalk security issue

So they released an updated version: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/tapatalksupport/tapatalk-for-phpbb-plugin-release-announcement-and-t3691-s120.html No specific mention of fixing the bug, probably because they don't want to publicly admit that they had this MAJOR security flaw. Who wants to be th...

Re: Tapatalk security issue

Taptalk have many gaps for example it not work with cloudflare. I really dont like this app I prefer to give users nice responsive style to use on phones, but they like to use taptalk so I have to keep this app. :( It works fine with Cloudflare, I've been doing that for quite a while. At most you'd...

Re: Tapatalk security issue

Has a CVE entry been filed against it yet? I don't know what that means. Over a few years there where many many many messages here on phpBB.com about tapatalk, all about that it's a piece of sh**. So I really wonder why people are still using it ??? Because users rage at me when I turn it off. And ...

Re: tapatalk- do I need it and why is it so hard to install?

So it turns out if you have Tapatalk on your forum, there is a bug that's been there for a while that lets any user read any private message. See viewtopic.php?f=64&t=2469156

I was able to duplicate this issue. Indeed I could craft a link and read multiple PM's. Completely unacceptable. Disabling TT immediately and will contact TT.

Re: tapatalk- do I need it and why is it so hard to install?

And it does nothing that phpBB does not do natively. It has only one advantage, and that is that it does push notifications to mobile devices. It actually gets users coming back to the forum. I hate TT more than anyone but I've got it installed on one forum because when I disabled it people raged a...

Re: How to use Automatic Update package to update files only (not db)?

Well right or wrong, on my next forum upgrade, I ran the command line interface upgrade first, then went through the normal upgrade web-based process. It seemed to work just fine. I'm not sure how to verify the database upgraded fine but the command line did tell me "[OK] The database update was suc...
