Re: [01/12/06] Spam Words

spammers are now flooding 'Occupation' and 'Interests' with http:// web addresses  and this mod cannot fight that  This MOD can be extended to check those fields. I think I hacked something together for someone back some 20 or so pages. Perhaps it's not 20 pages back but in my inbox: A w...

Re: [01/12/06] Spam Words

If posting fails due to a spam word in the signature, the user sees an error message, but no log entry is made. Admins should be aware of this lacuna in the spam word logging. I think it would make sense if postings blocked due to signature were logged, too. Code might look like this: if (preg_match...

Re:

.... if ($userdata['user_level'] != ADMIN || MOD) and just left it at that? That is what I did on my forum and it seems to be working :) On my forum, the above code did NOT work. From what I can see, that code will work only for users who have both administrator rights and moderator rights, but not...

...You show a photo instead of the text error message. How do I do the same thing? The photo is hosted on a webserver and the image is embedded using BBCode as part of the post text which looks like this for example: [img]http://www.annihilation.info/images/raisegoogle.jpg[/img] Please note that yo...

those are some very good observations. It is possible to modify RSS feeds so that they don't return flagged posts. PM me your RSS.php and I will modify it for you. Thanks for your feedback and your offer, Joe. Currently, the forum works quite well with "Error message" activated and RSS is no longer...

RSS and Spam word filter

Spam in RSS feed For those who have an RSS mod installed (e.g. RSS Syndication Mod by Lucas) I recommended to change the spam word filter's setting "How should posts that contain spam words be dealt with?" to "Error message". Default of this setting is is "Flag and hide posts" which works quite wel...

I've just searched myself and found:

- Textual description including relationships
http://www.phpbbdoctor.com/doc_tables.php

- ERM diagram

Textual Description of database model

On http://www.phpbbdoctor.com/doc_tables.php there's a description of the tables and their relationships. There's no graphical diagram, but it's a good start.

The above lines that you suggest to change are multiple times in the code. In index.php, I've changed the first instance within this mod's section, only, but this did not fix the problem: The category is still indicated as un-read.

Luckily there is the MOD update. :-)

I'd even would like to download the update before evaluation is accomplished There is no way I'm going to post links to unreleased versions. That will make a complete mockery of this thread with support questions to unreleased versions, released versions and mass-confusion to boot. The MOD validati...

Once the MOD team has validated it it will be avialable for download. Very good. Thank you very much for your effort, Joe! :-) I'd even would like to download the update before evaluation is accomplished and would like to know which features have been included, if possible. Anyway, we'll wait patie...

I just wanted to voice my support for an update. I'd love to get this mod working on my forum, but I simply don't have time to sort through 16 pages of posts after the initial install searching for more code changes. Pretty much what I think. Joe does as much as he can, already, so let's be patient...

An update is certainly due. ... It's good to hear that you do understand the problem that administrators have when getting many individual code pieces. And it's even better to hear that an update is planned. Some of the code changes listed here are very essential. Again, thank you for your effort, ...
