Heres my thought though. On your forum server you make a php script that takes the username, password, forum to access, etc. and a security string for authentication. Then you regestartion script calls this script to set up the account. In this way you would not have to give out you db details to a...

Well, I know if the require function fails, it stops the page from loading. I'm going to see if I require a file inside the members area, if that will work. How can I bring up a custom error if require fails? I tried !require but it doesn't work. edit: Well that didn't work either. When I include or...

Well, I might let other websites have sub-forums on my forum site also... In that case, I wouldn't want them to have my database user and pass. Any other ideas of how to make this simpler? I'm racking my brains, but can't really see.

unique question

I have a members site, but my forum is at another site. I want to have a sub-forum at my forum site where only my members can access it. Like you go to myforum.com/phpbb2 and see the forums General and Members. If they click Members, it popups up a password box. If they are members of mymembers.com,...

You put it where on the page you want it to show up. The overall_header.tpl file is basically the html of your header for every page of your forum. The {}'s are php code being placed in the page. In my style, there are buttons for "Forum Index" "Faq" "Search" "Memb...

You can put them wherever you want. Just put the url to the images in page_header.php. $icon_pm = 'images/newpm.g...

It sounds like you don't have your cookie domain in. Check your Admin configuration. Make sure all the paths are correct, and that you have your cookie domain.

Yeah, worked fine. The reason I did it this way, was because when I tried to add the images to my style cfg file I got errors when I wasn't logged in. But this way works fine. :)

Ok, I figured out how to do it. I just replaced: $icon_pm = $images['pm_new_msg']; with $icon_pm = 'newpm.gif'; and $icon_pm = $images['pm_no_new_msg']; with $icon_pm = 'nonewpm.gif'; Put the gif's in /forum/, then just use {PRIVMSG_IMG} in your tpl file. That's the simplest way, without editing you...

I think it would be simple to add something to do this. Right now, in overall_header.tpl, {PRIVATE_MESSAGE_INFO} brings back "You have no new messages" or "You have 2 new messages". This is what it looks like in page_header.php: // // Obtain number of new private messages // if u...

Couldn't I add an if statment to header.php or something and call it in my template?

So that if they have new messages, it shows pmyes.jpg, else show pmno.jpg

[solved] Private message help

I'm using Blue Template on my forum. You can see any example here: http://www.phpbb.com/styles/forum/index.php?style=193 There isn't a notification of new private messages (except the popup), so if users log in the site, they don't know they have new messages (if they have popup blocker/XPsp2). What...

Yes, you can do this with a mod like php fetch all. You can get it here:

Problem moving forum

I used phpmyadmin to completely backup my phpbb database, and moved my forum to my new server. My hosting company has it set where when I create a new database, it has my login before it. So to create phpbb, it creates nnhaven_phpbb. I changed that in my phpbb, and everything seemed to work great. I...
