Other things to check:
If the activation link starts with https rather than http, disable cookie secure.

If the domain name appears twice, remove the domain name from the script path.

Both settings are in admin panel->general admin->configuration.

Automatically do it? Not without a mod. Try the MOD requests forum.

To do it the normal way, create a special moderator rank, and assign you moderator that rank when you create the moderator.

It's most likely a problem with your cookie settings.

Go to the admin panel->general admin->configuration, and fing the cookie settings. Post your current settings here.

What version are you running? That sounds like 2.0.1. Upgrading to 2.0.2 fixes it.

Did you change anything at the time that the e-mail stopped working?

I doubt it would turn up anything, but you could try enambling de-bug mode:

it should still post the message. . .that's sort of odd.

But back to fixing the e-mail. Are you sure that the e-mail account is working, if you didn't change anything? Can you try a different e-mail account?
