to be perfectly honest you run the risk of screwing up your database by doing that (I've done it quite a few times). your best bet is to get this program WAMP5 it sets up a test server right on your PC with everything your standard webhost would have (just without it being online accessable). You ca...

Here's my take on why people put down phpbb 1: It's free end of list. They fall in the feild of "It's free so it can't be THAT good" yet they will download free programs like it's nothing and open their computer up to god knows what (but using that free forum script is EVIL!) so paying $80-$300 for ...

> Traiklin : erm... it is not because you didn't succed in doing very basic things that no one does :). More, your second assertion is definitively wrong : you will encounter exactly the same problems with both . I never had problems getting graphic intensive skins to work with the pseudo ...

There's two of them One is Categories Hierarchy which is a heavy duty mod and if you want to use other skins that aren't subdreamer clones then you won't be able to use them at all (or without doing a TON of work to get it to work). and then there is pseudo sub-forums which is still in development b...

Usergroup Color change

I don't know if this is a setting by default in PHPBB or if a mod is needed (I know I have seen it before but can't find it) but I need the ability for people in a spacific Usergroup to change color (just thier name).

there's only 2 mods I REALLY need for my forum, cause the rest I would use come already installed with version 3.

hopefully it won't be hard to edit skins in v3 cause I might just stick with the default for easy updating.

posts per forum display per user

Not sure how to word it but, Is there a mod that will change the ammount of posts displayed on a forum on a per user selection and not just whatever I set it at? I like to have as many shown as possible (like 100) but when I do that it takes alittle while for the page to load so I couldn't imagine i...

if your host is quick to stop supporting PHPBB then to me, It seems like they were looking for an excusse to remove PHPBB all together. cause if they really want to remove security vulnerabilitys then you need to let them know all the stuff NeoThermic said in his post. plus side, tell them if they s...

Get the instructions for each mod and then put all the tpl edits into a seperate notpad/wordpad/whatever you use. Then figure out which one will be the hardest one (if you use the true Sub-forums mod then start with that one) and try getting that one to work with the theme first. I've given up on a ...
