Re: Ban single gmail address, including all variations

I've noticed a lot of spammers are now using the "m.u.lti-p.eri.od" method when creating GMail IDs. I even wrote to Google to ask them to limit the number of periods in E-mail names but got a completely unrelated response: Thank you for your report about access activity on your account. We highly r...

Ban single gmail address, including all variations

How would I ban a single email address, including all the variations that Google would allow? I have a single user that keeps registering, who i then ban, but they simply register again by moving the dot to another position within the email. For example, spamm.er@gmail.com spammer@gmail.com spam.mer...

Re: Defeating Spam Registrations

Any other suggestions in preventing all these spam registrations are welcome. use the built in Q&A captcha. There's a sticky topic at the top of this forum with more info. The Q&A worked perfectly for me. When i used reCaptcha, i was getting 3-5 spam registrations a day and now its 0. I think the q...

Re: Enable forum before DNS propagation

1. How can I enable the forum on server2 if the DNS has not yet propagated? I can access server2 via the server IP, but I doubt I can get into ADM and enable the board, as I doubt the links would work? Cheers! I recently moved server and i managed to login to my board on my new server using the IP ...

Re: adding a parameter to the URL

thanks for both your suggestions, i will try them out later. I want to call the index page with a custom parameter, which i will then use to set a cookie. Whether or not the custom parameter is passed to other pages is not something im too bothered about, because it only really needs to be passed on...

Re: Newbie looking for some SQL help

Wow. I can't believe it was really that easy, and I made it out to be so difficult. All you need to do is look at the left_id and right_id in the forums table. I didn't really understand those fields before, but I sure do now! You look at the left_id and right_id of the top level forum that you car...

Re: Newbie looking for some SQL help

In Oracle you would use connect by prior to do a hierarchical query like that, but i havent done it before in MySQL. A quick google came up with something that might help http://dev.mysql.com/tech-resources/art ... -data.html

Re: setting a cookie within setup in session.php

I spend two hours of my time trying various bits of code and I dont get anywhere. I ask in here and then i get the eureka moment. Is it as simple as defining the user variable as global prior to calling the above set_cookie? global $user; It works now, but if anyone has any input on this, then it wo...

setting a cookie within setup in session.php

Hi, Im attempting to set a cookie within the function setup inside session.php. I have attempted to create it using $user->set_cookie('cookie_test', 0, time() + 100); I then get the following error Fatal error: Call to a member function set_cookie() on a non-object I guess I am doing something silly...
