[DEV] Google Sitemap mod (resurrected)

I've dug up the code for my google sitemap mod & started working on it again. The biggest change is the mod no longer generates a single sitemap. Instead, it generates multiple sitemaps, each containing a number of topics that you specify and links them together with a sitemap index file. In the...

Ok, looking back at the code I posted, one things thaat jumps out at me is that I put the ")" in the wrong place (encoding too much). Grab the code from http://forums.streetrod3.com/sitemap2.phps , that's a copy of a working script. webmedic - I don't mind. I'm just glad that someone finds...

Find the link that starts with 'TOPIC_URL' => and replace the entire line with 'TOPIC_URL' => $server_url. urlencode(strtolower(str_replace(" ", "-", $topic['topic_title'])) . "-vt" . $topic['topic_id'] . ".html"), That should safely remove any special charact...

If you want to manually add urls to your sitemap, hardcode them into "templates/subSilver/sitemap_body.tpl". Regarding your other post: I'm planning on adding a way to limit the # of topics & it shouldn't be too hard to override the automatic forum selection. Outputting only the links ...

It sounds like yosomething actually got messed up before that line somewhere. Copy the code from http://forums.streetrod3.com/sitemap3.phps into a .php file & upload it. That's a copy of sitemap.php with the changes that has been tested & works.

Right now, the mod only generates entries for the first page of a topic. In the future, I might look into how difficult it would be to add addictional pages.

smithy_dll wrote: It gives you an approximate line. The missing # can confuse some parsers. ;)

Try replacing

Code: Select all

'TOPIC_URL' => $server_url."viewtopic.$phpEx?t=" . $topic['topic_id'],
with

Code: Select all

'TOPIC_URL' => $server_url."ftopic" . $topic['topic_id'] . ".php",

Ok, this wasn't too hard. Copy http://www.streetrod3.com/sitemap-seo.phps into a .php file, upload it & give it a shot.

ambo - that's something that I messed up when I changed the way dates were done in 0.3.0 (missing the second parameter for gmdate()). I noticed & fixed it when I was cleaning up the code for 0.5.0. To fix it, either upgrade to 0.5.0 or replace the 'TOPIC_TIME' => line with TOPIC_TIME' => gmdate(...

For the next version, I'll be looking into ways to limit the # of topics, split it up into multiple sitemaps, and create appropriate index files. In the mean time, as long as the files is < 10mb uncompressed, google will download it. Regarding mod_rewrite - this is designed to work with a stock phpB...

The configuration is in a section called "Sitemap Settings" on the General Admin -> Configuration page. If you want to use the auto submit, you would put the code in a separate .php file & run it. I recommend manually submitting it at https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/stats , ...

Version 0.5.0 is now available. Besdies some minor cleanup, the main feature of this release is that it moves the configuration out of sitemap.php and into the admin panel. Installation instructions are in sitemap_mod.txt. I've installed this on a vaniila board and everything seems to be working fin...

There aren't acutally any newlines there. That's just the way some browsers (for example, firefox) show it. To check, just view the page source. I did notice that you're missing the slash after shoptalk. After checking the files I posted, it seems that in my haste to get the other features added, I ...
