Also, given that most spam attacks require a way to create user accounts in an automated fashion, it might be an interesting idea to think about an additional install option to enable admins to automatically obfuscate the registration process and the form variables used, so that all affected script...

holy sh*t, this stuff makes my eyes and mind explode - so I guess, it should work! ;-)
But I wonder if it isn't too much of a burden for new users?
