Inserting image title into BBCode IMG tag?

From what I gather, includes/bbcode.php contains a simple string-substitution algorithm that reads the text bracketed by bbcode IMG tags and inserts it into the SRC attribute of an HTML IMG tag. The tags' templates are defined here: static $replacements = array( 'quote_username_open' => array('{USER...

Re: View new posts

Alex, I've noticed the same behavior...it's rather annoying. This isn't a "bug" per se , it's how the function is currently implemented in the code. (taken from "search.php") ... $sql = 'SELECT p.post_id FROM ' . POSTS_TABLE . ' p WHERE p.post_time > ' . $user->data['user_lastvisit'] . " ... The rou...

Migration is the perfect time to reassess your processes, right? ;)

Much appreciated...I got this latest version of this mod installed and it works beautifully for both attached images and linked images.

Re: Restricting Bot / Spider Access?

The fact that they were even able to go to that link in the first place tells me the bots crawled your forum at some point when they did have access. Thanks, Adam...that's exactly the bit of info I was missing. I went in with Google's webmaster tools and discovered that this is precisely what happe...

Re: Restricting Bot / Spider Access?

So why does the online status not show the bot as "viewing index page"? Why is a bot with no access even able to view the list of topics in a forum that he can't even see?

Audit logs?

Does phpBB audit user login events? I browsed through the phpbb_logs db table, but I don't see anything that looks like what I'm after. I also see that the phpbb_users table traps the last visit datestamp and login_attempt count...but this isn't what I'm looking for either. What I want is a table of...

Re: How to restrict post edit/delete to unanswered only?

I'm sure you could just strip out the segment of code that checks whether you're trying to delete a post that isn't the last in a topic. But why would you want to do this? I would imagine it could make a godawful, unreadable mess of your forums if people randomly yank posts out of the middle of thre...

Re: Friend and foe?!?

I understand that the forum will hide posts made by people on your foe list...

...but what is the purpose of the friend list? Does it actually "do" anything?

Re: Wide image display problems

Yes, that works, I'm sure...but it seems like an unnecessarily complicated means of getting around a problem that shouldn't exist.

So many people are accustomed to using the IMG tag, I really can't see expecting them to change their behavior.

Re: Restricting Bot / Spider Access?

I'm not so sure about that, Steve. I had already set the Bots group to the "No Access" role. What perturbs me is that message that the bot was "Viewing topics in [forum]"...when I impersonate the bot to test his access, he doesn't even see that any forums exist. So how was he viewing the topics in a...

Restricting Bot / Spider Access?

I have used the ACP to set the Bots group forum permissions to "All Never" for all forums and sub-forums on my board. The purpose for this is that I don't want unregistered guests browsing the forums, and I don't want any of the discussions being indexed and cached by search engines. However, I will...

Wide image display problems

I'm using Dirtyboard2.0 as my style, but I'd imagine this same problem exists in any style that puts user info and avatars on the right side of the screen. The issue is that wide images posted inline get clipped horizontally. How are you guys working around this problem? I see two basic approaches: ...

Re: How to restrict post edit/delete to unanswered only?

Brf, thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I ended up inserting a new check in the edit mode handler routine of posting.php that looks like this: // Can we edit this post ... if we're a moderator with rights then always yes // else it depends on editing times, lock status and if we're th...

Re: How to restrict post edit/delete to unanswered only?

The simplest way to prevent editing replied posts, is to set the post edit time limit in the Post Settings. Thanks, Brf...but I don't want users to be able to edit a post after someone has answered it. When I set the timer value in the ACP, users are able to edit ALL their own posts until that time...
