I would certainly advise against enabling HTML. Use the [img] tag in the signature block to add an image to your signature.

While I have serious doubts that phpBB should be using 8MB, it will probably start working again if you increase the memory limit in php.ini... find:

Don't think it would be too hard. Just enter the remote server in the install wizard for each front end board, make sure you have the same set of templates and files uploaded, and you should be fine. Only problem might be transfering cookies between the servers, but if they're www.abc.com, www1.abc....
