Re: How to hide forum from public and search engines?

My requirements are similar but not the same. Could someone here help? We want to archive our entire forum. First, we would put it into a read-only access state so people have time to copy info out of it if needs be. We also want to replace the front / home page with perhaps a whole new screen (HTML...

Re: Custom BBCodes

I noticed that TED videos, well at least one I want to embed, no longer include .flv in their URL - which I could then put between [FLV]. Instead, now, their site gives an embed tag that includes 'token' passed to a swf player on their website. How can I embed these new style TED.com videos? Ref: Mi...

Poll bar graph bars are split

Hi,

I put a poll onto our forum and see that the bars in the bar graph are split across two lines - anything to fix this?

Re: Summer Time/DST setting question

Here in the UK, we changed our clocks last weekend - so around the world, the date of daylight saving time varies. I agree that where things can be done automatically, they should (I have several radio-controlled clocks about my house that lock onto the broadcast time signal. Unfortunately, one is t...

Ah! That did it. Do I need, then, to tell every single member of the board to update their user control panel settings? Does some hack do it automatically?

Thank you,

Re: Summer Time/DST setting question

My board is in the UK and is set to UTC, and was changed to not have DST last weekend. That shows fine in the ACP's 'board settings' section - including showing the format of the date/time using the correct time. However, the ACP's 'Welcome to phpBB' main page shows 'Logged administrator actions' wi...

Re: phpBB Statistics

Possible bug?

Go to Statistics, choose Forum Contributions ยป Attachments Statistics

The "Top 10 attachments (by download count)" shows the same filename for all the attachments but each is linked to the proper attachment.

Re: Limited Access Forums category visible with no forums

Thanks stevemaury.

Some may want it the way you suggest, but I didn't.

Perhaps it can be made a toggle somewhere in the admin control panel?

e.g. "Show category even if no forums visible within it? (yes/no)"

Re: Limited Access Forums category visible with no forums

I was editing my reply when you replied, JimA. I wanted to emphasize this hope/idea for phpbb3:

I was hoping the phpbb3 would recognize that no forums in that category were visible to the user and thus not display its (empty) self.

Thanks again for your quick, effective answers already.

Re: Limited Access Forums category visible with no forums

Thank you, JimA. My plan is to put other forums in there too, for specific individual registered users, who aren't moderators (e.g. the committee members of a local organisation). Thus, the mix of forums under 'Limited access forums' will vary depending on the user - some registered users won't be o...

Limited Access Forums category visible with no forums

Hi, I created a new category called "Limited Access Forums" and set it so that just registered users have access. I created a forum within it called "Moderators Only" and gave my moderators permission to use that forum. They see the category, and the forum within it. Unfortunately, normal people (wh...

Re: SQL error when preview message with URL image link

This is the first time it has happened; and I was able to upload a copy of the image and display it. The error was only when using the Img tag reference to a URL. I just tried references to other photos and they worked...up to the 1024x1024 limit (I probably set that somewhere when first installing ...
