If You are using some language pack, check that it has all VC lines also.

Are You using some other language than english?
If language pack does not have right lines it doesn't show in admin panel. Switching to english makes it appear but You really should have updated language pack to make it show right to your users also. (If that was the case.)

If You have shell access You could try this: mysql -u <username> -D <database> -p < <backupfilename> Worked for me when I changed host. You must have the backupfile on the server and shell access to run that command. If the database is in different server than phpBB files add -h <servername> . -Bull...

Thanks Spyder124. It wasn't register_globals though. It probably was something with installing php 4.2 from source and MysQL from binary installation. How ever MySQL documentation says that one can not install from source with new C compiler.I did not want to downgrade the compiler (x.29 something),...

Php version is: PHP Version 4.0.1pl2

which is vulnerable and if upload is allowed not safe.
To my knowledge there are no fixes to this version, other than upgrading.

Are You sure Your service provider has PHP upload enabled?

Not long ago security risk with certain PHP versions and uploads was discovered.

PhpBB seems to show that browse button only if upload is possible.

Never mind... I downgraded

Does anybody know what package provides libmm.so.11 ?

I'll try to upgrade to RH:s 4.0.6 which has security fix and it complaints about that. I guess I should have installed everything at first place.

Anybody?

I get a connection to database from index.php and if I use a simple php script.
But every link on index page gives me the 'could not connect to database' error.

Is there any way to make it display the reason for not being able to connect?
