... brought up the users table and individually deleted a number of accounts as suggested. Most all the bot accounts and those I was 100 sure of being bogus. Also whacked the Anonymous account. That made the forum stop working. 2. Did a lot of looking for answers on this site and anywhere I could find ...

Re: Approving first posts

Thanks for replying.

Disapproving the post would be the easiest way, but wouldn't I end up with a database full of bogus users?

Re: Dlete all posts based on IP

... Frequently the antispam sites report 100s of similar spamming instances from the same IP. Mostly you get your userlist filled up with 1000s of bogus accounts that remain dormant for ages, then awaken and post a barrage of spam. Best if you detect one spammer on an IP to delete all the other ...

Re: Big increase in bogus new user requests

It happens once in a while. It's probably a human spammer that has 'farmed' the answer to the question and it's been added to the bot database.

Change the question and you'll be fine.

I tend to find I have to change my question every 3-4 months as the answer has been 'found out'.

Re: MS SQL to MySQL migration question

MySQL doesn't need to index all those columns. I have no idea why they're indexed on your MS SQL tables anyway, since /install/schemas/mssql_schema.sql doesn't do so - it only creates 6 indices on that table.

Compare that with your installation and then dump all bogus indices.

I assume those were from the bogus passwords entered, but if it would do any good, I can certainly overwrite one of those hashes with a known one to hack into that account. I think ...

Scanners like that are notorious for reporting false positives. There are no known vulnerabilities in phpBB. If you don't have any MODs installed, then it's bogus.

Scanners like that are notorious for reporting false positives. There are no known vulnerabilities in phpBB. If you don't have any MODs installed, then it's bogus. If you do have MODs installed, you would need to look at any edits that they made and ensure that everything is properly sanitized.
