Re: Language tags

  1. cs is the Czech language, CZ is the Czech Republic.

So, your language code should be cs. We would use something like cs_CZ only if we had multiple Czech translations for different countries.

Re: validate a Language Pack

It depends on how busy the language manager is - we only have one person doing the job.

If you don't hear back after 2 weeks or so, you might poke the language manager to make sure it hasn't fallen throug the cracks.

We have recently had a change in staff, the new translation manager is Raimon.

Re: == Versão Portuguesa == SEM acordo ortográfico

OP is looking for a translation that doesn't use the latest Portuguese orthography rules. They changed the orthography again a few year back, and not everybody likes it.

Re: Translating 3.1.x and using existing 3.0.12 translations?

Meld is an excellent tool for Linus. On Windows, I use Winmerge.

The new plural rules are documented in the wiki: https://wiki.phpbb.com/Plural_Rules

Re: support for unicode

The translation files should be submitted in UTF-8 format.

I expect that support is there as long as the characters are in the font set that's used in the browser.

Re: Icelandic translation [project]

It should work with the Í, since I have an à in mine.

I expect this is a character encoding issue. Windows uses ANSI, but phpBB uses UTF-8. You can choose your encoding if you use an editor like Notepad+

Re: Icelandic translation [project]

I don't know where that error message is coming from, because I never got it. Maybe the validator tool can help: https://github.com/nickvergessen/phpbb-translation-validator/tree/master#installation-translation-validator-for-validating-a-language-package You will need to have an installation of phpB...

Re: Icelandic translation [project]

Since you plan on starting a board, maybe some of the users who join will be willing to help out. You could also run your translation on there and ask your users to flag up any mistakes.

Good luck!

Re: Tatar Translation for phpBB

The translation manager is busy sometimes. Give him a week or two and then remind him in case he overlooked the submission.

Re: Tatar Translation for phpBB

You need to go here and ask to be added to the team:

https://www.phpbb.com/languages/apply.php

They might not see your translation here ;)

Re: Tatar Translation for phpBB

For the line endings, open the file in a good editor like Notepad++, then choose "Save as" and look for an option for Linux/Unix line endings. The INSTALL_CONGRATS_EXPLAIN string is difficult to get just right. You will have to compare the tags in it with the English string, you probably missed a ta...

Re: phpBB in georgian language

Instructions are here: https://www.phpbb.com/languages/apply.php I recommend you set up a test installation somewhere, so you can see your translation in action. I run my test installation on a local test environment on my computer. http://www.apachefriends.org/index.html is a good package for that....
