Re: Create/read cookies with phpBB3

Aha! So it seems that

Code: Select all

request_var('testcookie', 'null')
is not the right approach. I need to access the cookie directly using

Code: Select all

request_var($config['cookie_name'] . '_testcookie', '', false, true)
That works... but is it the "correct" approach?

Create/read cookies with phpBB3

I cannot get my own cookies to work with under phpBB system. They seem to be setting ok (I can see them in the FireFox headers), but I can't read them. What is the issue? $cookietime = time() + (60 * 60 * 24 * 365 * 3); // Cookie lasts for 3 years $user->set_cookie('testcookie', 'test test test', $c...

Definition of Active Topics?

Sorry if this is a silly question, but what is the definition of Active Topics? I can see how to turn them on and off (whatever that does), but I've searched and searched through all the documentation and forums, and nowhere can I find anything that tells me what Active Topics actually are... Could ...

Re: Relationship between stylesheet files and db

Ahh, ok. In that case, I retract my spleen-vent. Well, partially anyway. :D So I can copy the import file from the proSilver theme, but I don't feel any wiser as to how I got into this situation in the first place. Is there any documentation on how to create your own style and theme? I've searched a...

Relationship between stylesheet files and db

OK, I'm utterly frustrated. I've spent a large part of my day swearing at phpBB's templating system. Don't get me wrong, I'm a phpBB fan from way back, and I think 3.0 looks very cool indeed. But I think the way it deals with stylesheets is ridiculously complicated beyond belief. Ultimately, I want ...

Re: Creating my own style

^ Ditto this. I've searched, but haven't yet found, any article outlining what I need to know in order to create my own style template. I don't know whether such a document exists, but if it doesn't, it should!

The nearest I've found is:

I think I've got too many mods to be able to do that successfully - including modifications on the Attachment mod itself. :?

I've just realised that although I'm running phpBB 2.22, my Attachment mod version is only 2.4.3. Acyd Burn used to provide a patch upgrade on his website, but I see he's taken the site offline now. Anyone know where I can get the patch?

Sorry Colin - I'm no expert when it comes to gdlib. Can you get the Attachment mod to work ok by itself? By the way, I've just realised that although I running phpBB 2.22, my Attachment mod version is only 2.4.3. Acyd Burn used to provide a patch upgrade on his website, but I see he's taken the site...

No, it is supposed to go to "Font Size" as soon as you select a size. Try it here you will see what I mean. Heh... so it does. Still, I'd personally prefer it to jump back to "Normal" and reomve the "Font Size" option altogether. That's just my opinion, though. I think a little bit of code tweaking...

Ahhh... now I see. :D Yeah, I had noticed the little annoyance with repeated font size changes. In fact, I'd meant to put in a little javascript workaround exactly like you suggest, Geocator - but I never got round to it! Still, this particular change doesn't actually fix the problem, does it? If yo...

New font size option in latest update - why?!

Could someone explain the point of changing the Font Size dropdown in the 2.0.22 update? No offense to any of the developers (I really think you do a great job mostly) but this particular change seems worse than useless! The culprit is this extra line of code that's been added: <option value="0" cla...

Hmmm. That IS a strange one, Colin. I'm currently running it on 2.21, with no problems at all.

I haven't updated to 2.22 yet, but I'm planning on doing it in the next few days. I'll report back and let you know how I get on.
