Please post back with your findings. - I'm curious about this because I would like to write a MOD for doing essentially the same thing - well, except it would hopefully only block legitimate spammers. :P

Been there, done that.. - I'm looking for more of a proactive approach.

Guess I'll start a new thread, I started this one off bad.

The 2.0.20 update really takes a smacking to usercp_register.

Any plans to re-MOD this for 2.0.20 A_Jelly?

Heres a cap from pwntcha:

It requires a ColdFusion capable server though, thats the trick I have with it.. - My host doesn't offer CFMX and I'll have to pack up and move in order to use it.

If you can't trust your admins, then why make them admins in the first place? :P Ditto that.. And if something does happen, you should also have access to your raw database still right?? - With phpMyAdmin you can "hack" yourself back from the dead and whomp the crap out of your rogue "admin".. ;) K...

They are the ones supplying the ads in order for you to have a free forum.

You almost certainly cannot get rid of them.

Unfortunately, when you get to this point you sort of need to become a "programmer".. (But not really, all you really need to do is follow a few fairly simple rules.) 1: Make a backup of your existing site (all files including the database) and put it somewhere safe. 2: Open the "phpbb-2.0.19_to_2.0...

email verification will probably slow them from making posts (assuming that no forums are postable by "all"..) but no, it will not stop them from registering in the first place. - they will still register in order for the web searching sites (google, msn, et al..) to find their website links in the ...

Ummm.. - Silly question maybe, but are you using the PATCH files, or the code change files? - You'll want to use code change files with easymod. Now, if that seemed like a challenging question, this is gonna fly right over your head. (Sorry, don't mean to, but this post is for everyone who ran into ...

Anyone using CFX_Captcha?

If so, I'm just curious how you're doing as far as spam-bot registrations go..

Thanx!

How about we start getting proactive instead of reactive about this whole mess? I mean, c'mon, anti-spam measures for email have to be much more complex because the nature of email vs. posting to bulletin boards (where theres an active authentication requirement.) AND.. - IMO, email has a great boon...

!Remove WWW and Signatures from profile!

Ok, I can probably do this myself, but I have a workload thats stacked up 9 miles high and (supposedly) something of a personal life (though it seems like all that amounts to is playing babysitter to the girlfriends kids.) What I would like to do is to simply remove the Website and Signature compone...

I've seen this on a variety of phpBB sites lately. - A lot of times it doesn't like manually typed in quote= strings but if you use the quote button it'll display fine. ??? - Go figure, they look EXACTLY the same. FWIW, I HAVE noticed it seems to happen a lot more frequently when using a name with s...

Are you running on a hosted server? Have you tried checking on the xs.to domain to see if its hosted by the same provider? Could be you need to contact your hosting provider if this is the case. - Either way I'd be looking to contact them to see about getting your logs in order to find out who hacke...
