This is exactly what I am looking for, however I don't see the mod listed. How can I access it? There is no official mod for this. But if you do the forum notification mod, you can then go through and comment out (in the tpl files) the ability to opt out. That will bring you most of the way to wher...

OK, I've done this mod twice now on a 2.06 board with lots of mods. I ran the update_to_207.php each time and got no errors. But when I logged in, here's what happened each time: If I log in as admin, everything is great. But if I log in as a regular user I get the following error in the header (tho...

Re: Automatically email new topic to group (or all users)

Is there a way to email a new posted topic automatically to a group (or all users) so that all messages are archived and can be searched - combining the functionality of a mailing list and a forum? I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. I did something similar as follows: I did the forum notific...

Yes, you can do that. There is no reason why you should have to shut the board down - the backup should only take a few seconds to be done. Thanks, but that prompts the obvious question: why would anyone use the built in backup utility when simply copying the directory is so much easier (at least f...

backing up phpbb databases

I have a ton of special tables and I haven't kept track of the names so it's tricky to use the built in backup function in phpbb. How safe is it to simply go into the data directory of myql and copy the entire data folder for phpbb to a backup file? Seems simple enough -- any downside to doing this?...

Re: its your host

...I'm a bit confused by this thread, which suggests that things can be fixed by mucking with the phrase 'Undisclosed-recipients' when in fact (according to a post in a different thread) it makes no difference what phrase you put in because the colon and semicolon at the end tell the recipient in e...

Re: its your host

your host has a bad spam rap . Thanks. I'm not sure who you are referring to in your post, but if it's me, I am my own host -- I'm running my board on my own pc with apache and mysql and I'm using normal smtp (through my regular ISP) for emailing. The email notifications go out to 75 people without...

So did this work? What does it mean to change 'Undisclosed_recipients' to 'Mailing list' ... what does that actualoly tell emailer to do? And by the way there is another post from January that says that 'Undisclosed-recipients' is the wrong syntax for avoiding the blank 'To' spam filter problem and ...

I just answered my own question by looking at other phpbb scripts...this seems to work as a way to use include directly in the php script without screwing around with path files in the php.ini file:

include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/update_fwtable.'.$phpEx);

a follow up...

I'd like to use include() to call the same file from a few different places (e.g. a call from a script located under the root and a call from another script located under the admin directory). So, I put the file I want to call from those places into the 'includes' directory but the include() functio...

And its easy to do the same thing for sentbox and outbox as well. But note that if the admin goes way beyond the quota set for everyone else, at some point the box showing percentage of quota used will screw up the display (e.g. if you are at 1000% of the quota the box showing percentage used will g...

temporary redirect to a 'subroutine' file?

I know this is dumb, but the php manual seems pretty sparse... I would like to insert a command into a php script that tells the script to go to another php file, execute the script in that file and then return. Basically the other file would be a subroutine called by the first file. How do I go abo...

an admin has control over all groups whether a member or not, so you don't need to make them a member of the group or a moderator either one. robert Right, but that's not exactly what I was asking...I'm asking if it is possible to NOT assign ANY moderator to a group. When I was setting up a group, ...
